  • Patent number: 11786313
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for performing robotic joint arthroscopic surgery are disclosed. The disclosed systems use a surgical robot to perform robotic joint arthroscopic surgery for soft tissue. The disclosed systems enable a surgeon or physician to perform a virtual surgical procedure in a virtual environment, storing robotic movements, workflow objects, user inputs, or a description of tools used. The surgical robot filters the stored data to determine a surgical workflow from the stored data. The surgical robot displays information describing a surgical step in the surgical workflow, enabling the surgeon or physician to optionally adjust the surgical workflow. The surgical robot stores the optional adjustments and performs the surgical procedure on a patient by executing surgical actions of the surgical workflow.

  • Patent number: 11779423
Abstract: Haptic feedback from a robotic surgical tool can be adjusted based on intra-operative assessment of the accuracy of a pre-operative surgical navigational plans. Navigational reference points are identified in at least one pre-operative image. At least one haptic response is identified for interactions between at least one robotic surgical tool and at least one navigational reference point. At least one intra-operative image is compared to the pre-operative image to determine the relative position of at least two corresponding navigational reference points in the images. The reference points' relative position determines a confidence level in the accuracy of the pre-operative navigational reference point. The haptic response is adjusted in timing, location, type, or amplitude based upon the confidence level. Tolerances and surgical navigation plan may also be updated and altered based on the confidence level.

  • Publication number: 20230298743
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for maintaining and controlling surgical tools are disclosed. For each surgical tool, a surgeon can give verbal commands which can result in feedback provided by a synthesized voice or the execution of an action as instructed by the verbal command. The tools are monitored during use to ensure the tools remain within their operating parameters. The system alerts the surgeon should the tools approach their operational limitations.

  • Publication number: 20230290497
Abstract: An implantable sensor device for monitoring patient conditions surrounding a surgical site is disclosed. The implantable sensor device comprises one or more sensors, a memory, and a controller. The implantable sensor device is configured to confirm activation of the implantable sensor device. Further, the implantable sensor device monitors the one or more sensors sensing the implanted device and stores the monitored data in the memory and sends the monitored data to the external device by establishing a connection with the external device, via a network interface. The implantable sensor device is further configured to monitor the stored data for the adverse event and perform an action to mitigate the risk of the life of the patient caused due to the adverse event.

  • Publication number: 20230277261
Abstract: Robotic system and method are described for performing latency managed telesurgery. The system comprises drone(s) to create a wireless network in one or more geographic areas between a surgical site and a remote surgeon. The system further comprises a computer that is configured to: receive a request that indicates that a telesurgery is to be performed between the first location and the second location at a scheduled time; determine that one or more equipment is available for use at the surgical site for the telesurgery at the scheduled time; send a first instruction that triggers measurement of a latency of the wireless network; determine, during the telesurgery, whether the latency of the wireless network is acceptable; and send a first message that indicates that the latency is not acceptable, where an operation of the drone(s) is adjusted or an additional drone is deployed in the one or more geographic areas.

  • Publication number: 20230255696
Abstract: This invention is a system and method for utilizing artificial intelligence to operate a surgical robot (e.g., to perform a laminectomy), including a surgical robot, an artificial intelligence guidance system, an image recognition system, an image recognition database, and a database of past procedures with sensor data, electronic medical records, and imaging data. The image recognition system may identify the tissue type present in the patient and if it is the desired tissue type, the AI guidance system may remove a layer of that tissue with the end effector on the surgical robot, and have the surgeon define the tissue type if the image recognition system identified the tissue as anything other than the desired tissue type.

  • Patent number: 11710559
Abstract: Monitoring devices monitor physiological parameters of a patient undergoing surgery. The physiological parameters describe a physiological condition of the patient. A processor matches the physiological parameters to stored surgical data associated with adverse surgical events associated with surgical procedures matching the surgery. The processor determines a predicted time at which the physiological condition of the patient will meet a threshold physiological condition associated with the adverse surgical event based on a rate of change of the physiological parameters. Responsive to determining the predicted time, the processor transmits a first alert to robotic surgical controls to adjust the surgery prior to the predicted time. The processor determines that the physiological condition of the patient has met the threshold physiological condition. The processor transmits a second alert to the robotic surgical controls to terminate the surgery.

  • Publication number: 20230225810
Abstract: A robotic surgical system may be used to perform a surgical procedure. Providing guidance for the robotic surgical system includes integrating a Point of View (PoV) surgical drill with a camera to capture a PoV image of a surgical area of a subject patient; displaying an image of the surgical area, based on a viewing angle of the PoV surgical drill, thus enabling the surgeon to operate on the surgical area using the PoV surgical drill. The PoV surgical drill operates based on the surgeon's control of a guidance drill. The content of the images may change based on a change in the viewing angle of the PoV surgical drill.

  • Patent number: 11678906
Abstract: A multi-portal method for treating a subject's spine includes distracting adjacent vertebrae using a distraction instrument positioned at a first entrance along the subject to enlarge an intervertebral space between the adjacent vertebrae. An interbody fusion implant can be delivered into the enlarged intervertebral space. The interbody fusion implant can be positioned directly between vertebral bodies of the adjacent vertebrae while endoscopically viewing the interbody fusion implant using an endoscopic instrument. The patient's spine can be visualized using endoscopic techniques to view, for example, the spine, tissue, instruments, and implants before, during, and after implantation, or the like. The visualization can help a physician throughout the surgical procedure to improve patient outcome.
