  • Patent number: 6854188
Abstract: A razor handle head is provided having a one-piece spring extending between and molded integrally with a pair of opposed arms that carry connectors to which a razor cartridge movably (e.g., pivotally) mounts. The single-piece spring has a pair of outer spring sections extending from the arms and a center portion with a cam follower which bears against a cam surface on the cartridge to bias the cartridge as it moves relative to the handle head. The one-piece spring also flexes with the arms during assembly of the cartridge to the handle head.

  • Patent number: 6568084
Abstract: A razor blade cartridge is disclosed for wet shaving. The razor blade cartridge includes a platform member having a blade seat and a guard member. A plurality of first guard ribs are disposed on the platform member, and a first blade is disposed on the blade seat. A spacer is disposed on the first blade, and a plurality of second guard ribs is disposed on the spacer. A second blade is disposed on the spacer, and a cap member is disposed on the second blade. A plurality of third guard ribs is disposed on the cap member proximate the skin engaging edge of the second blade. The first, second and third guard ribs are arranged in a number of shapes and positions relative to each other, which assist the shaver in controlling blade exposure and shaving angle. Typically, the blade exposure is positive at the trough portion between the guard ribs, and negative at the tip portion an a shaving plane on skin engaging portion of the guard ribs.

  • Patent number: 6438849
Abstract: To automatically retract the blade after cutting, a flat serpentine spring is integrally formed with a thumb piece which is slidably received in a slot formed along the upper edge of a housing/handle. The housing has a finger rest projection on the lower edge to facilitate cutting while the blade is projected with the thumb. The two halves of the housing snap together using a block-like projection formed on one half, and a pair of tabs formed on the other. The tabs, which are resilient, slide along the sides of the projection until recesses on each of the side of the projection are reached. Inwardly extending ridges on the ends of the tabs enter the recesses to provide a click lock. An aperture between the tabs allows pressure to be applied to the top of the projection to separate the two halves for blade reset/re-adjustment. The blade carrier, which is adapted to support two different types of blades, is slidably mounted in the housing so that it and the thumb piece are free of detents or click-locks.
