  • Patent number: 9019850
Abstract: Techniques to support periodic reporting of channel state information (CSI) for multiple component carriers (CCs) with different system configurations are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) is configured with multiple CCs for carrier aggregation. Each CC is associated with a particular system configuration, which indicates whether FDD or TDD is utilized and, if TDD is utilized, a particular uplink-downlink configuration for the CC. Each CC is associated with a set of subframes available to send CSI on that CC, which is determined based on the system configuration of the CC. The multiple CCs configured for the UE include at least two CCs associated with different system configurations and different sets of subframes available to send CSI. The UE sends CSI for a first CC on a second CC based on a set of subframes available to send CSI on the second CC.

  • Patent number: 9019902
Abstract: A wireless communication system facilitates multichannel periodic and aperiodic feedback (e.g., Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), Rank indicator (RI), Precoding Matrix Indicator (PMI)) from a population of user equipment while facilitating legacy single carrier communication. Paired downlink (DL)/uplink (UL) or many-to-one mapping communication can be established by common system information or dedicated signaling. In one aspect, a flag sent by system information or by dedicated signaling can indicate which means controls. Feedback can be configured for each carrier independently reported in a concatenated in frequency fashion, reported in a cycle in time fashion, or reported in a staggered in time and frequency fashion. Feedback can be reported jointly as one wide bandwidth. Feedback can be a single report perhaps reported on a data channel for more capacity or by cycled carrier/subband reporting.

  • Patent number: 9014210
Abstract: A method, a computer program product, and an apparatus for determining retransmission feedback resources are provided. An apparatus receives a downlink resource assignment over a control channel and obtains an offset related to a region for retransmission feedback resources. The offset is determined based on a type of the control channel. The apparatus determines resources for communicating retransmission feedback for communications received over the downlink resource assignment based on an index of a resource related to the downlink resource assignment and the offset. The apparatus transmits retransmission feedback for the communications over the resources.

  • Patent number: 9001780
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may determine a number of uplink timing groups configured for a plurality of component carriers, and determine whether to transmit at least one of data or control information on one or more first component carriers of the plurality of component carriers concurrently with sounding reference signals (SRS) on one or more second component carriers of the plurality of component carriers based at least in part on the number of uplink timing groups. When only one uplink timing group is determined, the SRS is transmitted in a symbol on the one or more second component carriers if the data and control information is not transmitted in the symbol. When two uplink timing groups are determined SRS may be transmitted on the second component carriers concurrently with data or control information on the component carriers.

  • Patent number: 8989026
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques for user-specific search space design for multi-carrier operation in Long Term Evolution Advanced (LTE-A) systems. The user-specific search space can be designed for searching Physical Downlink Control Channels (PDCCHs) transmitted on one component carrier (CC) that schedules Physical Downlink Shared Channel/Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PDSCH/PUSCH) transmissions on two or more different CCs. In one aspect, multiple independent user-specific search spaces can be designed. In another aspect, one user-specific search space can be randomly derived and then expanded to accommodate search for multiple CCs. In yet another aspect, the search space design can retain randomness in starting search element indices of multiple PDSCH/PUSCH CCs, while overlapping of search spaces for multiple PDSCH/PUSCH CCs can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 8934350
Abstract: Techniques for reporting channel state information (CSI) are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) may be configured for operation on multiple carriers with different configurations, e.g., FDD and TDD carriers and/or carriers with different uplink-downlink configurations. The multiple carriers may have different subframes for making measurements for CSI and/or different subframes for sending CSI. In response to a CSI request, the UE may determine at least one reference subframe to use for determining CSI for the multiple carriers. The reference subframe may be common to the plurality of carriers and may, for example, be based the subframe in which the CSI request in sent. Alternatively, the reference subframe may be different for different carriers such as when it is based on different HARQ timelines applicable for the different carriers. The UE may determine the CSI for the multiple carriers based on the reference subframe(s) and may report the CSI.
