  • Publication number: 20120115537
Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and computer program products are disclosed which facilitate the transmission and reception of power headroom reports for component carriers in a multi carrier wireless communication system. A mobile device may determine available power headroom in a multicarrier configuration through a calculation of a maximum transmit power associated with a first component carrier (CC) in a subset of the CCs. The calculation can account for increases in transmit power of other component carriers in the subset by proportionally increasing transmit powers for each of the subset of CCs. A power headroom may be identified for one or more of the CCs based on a result of the calculation, and a power headroom report (PHR) may be generated that includes the power headroom available for the first CC.

  • Publication number: 20120113832
Abstract: Techniques for sending control information on uplink channels are disclosed. In one design, a user equipment (UE) may determine its current configuration for concurrent transmission of a control channel and a shared channel. The UE may select one or more channels, from among the control channel and the shared channel, to send control information of at least one type in a same subframe. The UE may select the one or more channels based on the types of control information to send, the current configuration for concurrent transmission of the control channel and the shared channel, whether the UE is scheduled for data transmission on the shared channel in the subframe, whether the UE has sufficient transmit power to transmit both the control channel and the shared channel, etc. The UE may send the control information on the one or more selected channels in the subframe.

  • Publication number: 20120106404
Abstract: In a first configuration, a first BS communicates with a first UE through at least one CC. The first BS determines whether to aggregate the at least one CC with at least one additional CC for communication with the first UE based on an interference caused to a second BS and/or a second UE. The at least one additional CC is used by the second BS to communicate with the second UE. In a second configuration, an BS communicates with a first UE and a second UE through at least one CC. The BS determines whether to aggregate the at least one CC and at least one additional CC for communication with the second UE based on an interference caused to the first UE and/or a third UE. The at least one additional CC is used by the first UE to relay information between the third UE and the BS.

  • Publication number: 20120082041
Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products are described for power headroom reporting. A mobile device may identify a transmit power associated with each of a number of independently power controlled channels on one or multiple carriers configured for use by the mobile device. The transmit power may relate to one channel that is an uplink control channel, and one or more additional channels that are uplink shared channels. The identified transmit power of one channel (e.g., the uplink control channel) may be a virtual transmit power, while other identified transmit powers may be measured transmit powers for actual transmissions. The identified transmit powers may be added up, and the power headroom available for the mobile device may be calculated using the accumulated transmit powers. The mobile device may transmit a power headroom report to a base station.

  • Publication number: 20120082145
Abstract: Techniques for sending ACK/NACK information in a multi-carrier wireless communication network are disclosed. In one aspect, a plurality of ACK/NACK transmission techniques are selectively employed by a multi-carrier user equipment (UE) to reduce the number of bits of ACK/NACK information to send and/or increase the number of payload bits available for sending the ACK/NACK information. The ACK/NACK transmission techniques may include an orthogonal sequence reduction technique, a channel selection technique, a spatial bundling technique, a carrier bundling technique, and/or a subframe bundling technique. The ACK/NACK transmission techniques may be prioritized based on the number of carriers on which data transmissions are received, a payload size available for carrying ACK/NACK information, and/or other factors. The multi-carrier UE can utilize different ACK/NACK transmission techniques in connection with different subsets of its configured carriers.

  • Publication number: 20120039227
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for bundling feedback related to downlink transmissions on a plurality of component carriers (CCs). In some examples, a base station configures a multi-carrier mobile device to use different feedback bundling schemes when it determines that the mobile device is power limited. The bundling scheme configured for the mobile device may be based, in part, on one or more transmission modes of the downlink CCs. Bundling schemes may include combinations of bundling techniques and an order in which these techniques are applied. In particular, the bundling techniques may include CC bundling in combination with spatial bundling and/or feedback repetition. For efficiency and performance, a bundling scheme may require application of CC bundling before resorting to use of feedback repetition.
