    Abstract: A plasma display panel and a method and apparatus for driving the same that are capable of preventing miss-writing and improving discharge and light-emission efficiencies. In the panel, an upper substrate and a lower substrate are opposed to each other with having a plurality of discharge cells therebetween. A first upper electrode group includes at least one electrode having a desired width and is formed on the upper substrate. A second upper electrode group includes at least one electrode having a different width from the first upper electrode group and is formed on the upper substrate in such a manner to be adjacent to the first upper electrode group. A data electrode is provided on the lower substrate in such a manner to be perpendicular the first and second upper electrode group. In the method and apparatus, a short-path discharge occurs between two electrodes spaced at a small distance from each other, of electrodes included in the first and second upper electrode groups.

    Abstract: A plasma display panel that minimizes the power consumption required for driving the PDP is disclosed. A reset pulse of a ramp-down waveform supplied in a reset period goes down to a voltage level higher than a negative scan reference voltage, and is kept for a specified period. Also, a sustain pulse voltage level of a selective erase type sub-field is provided with a voltage level relatively higher than the sustain pulse provided from the selective write type sub-field, or a reset pulse of a ramp-up waveform that goes from a maximum voltage level of the ramp-up waveform down to a ground voltage level or more is supplied to a scan electrode as well as a selective erase scan pulse descends from a predetermined selective erase scan voltage level to the ground level or more. Therefore, the data driving voltage is minimized, and the display state is stabilized.

The voltage sustain diode may be installed between the inductor and a ground voltage source, for preventing a voltage between the inductor and the capacitor from being dropped to a voltage less than a ground voltage.

In the circuit, radio frequency electrode lines are divided into a plurality of groups. A plurality of impedance matchers are independently connected to each group of the radio frequency electrode lines to match impedance of input and output terminals thereof. Accordingly, an impedance difference between the radio frequency electrode lines caused by a length difference of radio frequency supply lines is uniformly compensated, so that a maximum power of radio frequency signal can be applied to each radio frequency electrode line to provide a stable operation of the panel as well as to improve a picture quality.
