  • Publication number: 20030107532
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of driving a plasma display panel enabling to improve an overall contrast characteristic of the plasma display panel by reducing a voltage difference between scan and sustain electrodes Y and Z to decrease an emission amount of light generated by a discharge between the scan and sustain electrodes Y and Z. • Publication number: 20030006945
Abstract: A plasma display panel that minimizes the power consumption required for driving the PDP is disclosed. A reset pulse of a ramp-down waveform supplied in a reset period goes down to a voltage level higher than a negative scan reference voltage, and is kept for a specified period. Also, a sustain pulse voltage level of a selective erase type sub-field is provided with a voltage level relatively higher than the sustain pulse provided from the selective write type sub-field, or a reset pulse of a ramp-up waveform that goes from a maximum voltage level of the ramp-up waveform down to a ground voltage level or more is supplied to a scan electrode as well as a selective erase scan pulse descends from a predetermined selective erase scan voltage level to the ground level or more. Therefore, the data driving voltage is minimized, and the display state is stabilized.

  • Patent number: 6483489
Abstract: A radio frequency driving circuit and a radio frequency signal switching method that are capable of easily controlling a radio frequency signal in a radio frequency plasma display panel. In the method, a turning-on signal is applied before the radio frequency signal is completely erased by applying a turning-off signal to a radio frequency generator. Accordingly, a rising time of the radio frequency signal is reduced, so that the radio frequency signal can be switched to be suitable for the PDP driving.

  • Patent number: 6476562
Abstract: A plasma display panel capable of utilizing a radio frequency discharge efficiently and driving method and apparatus thereof are disclosed. In the PDP, each cell is provided with a radio frequency electrode for applying a radio frequency voltage, a data electrode for applying a data voltage, a scanning electrode for applying a scanning voltage, and a discharge space into which discharge gases for causing a gas discharge are injected. Accordingly, a distance between two electrodes used for a radio frequency discharge is assured sufficiently to utilize a smooth radio frequency discharge as a display discharge, thereby improving the brightness and the discharge efficiency. Also, an alternating current discharge having a control easiness is used for the address discharge while a radio frequency discharge having a good efficiency is used for a sustaining discharge, thereby utilizing advantages in the two discharge.

  • Patent number: 6473061
Abstract: A PDP drive method capable of restraining the generation of contour noise and making to be high a brightness level. In the PDP drive method, discharging cells on the plasma display panel start simultaneously on a radio frequency discharge by row lines. Next, the radio frequency discharge, which is caused in each discharging cell on the row line, is erased by applying an erasing pulse corresponding to a brightness level of video to the discharging cells on a row line.

  • Patent number: 6433763
Abstract: A plasma display panel drive art capable of restraining a contour noise in a picture displayed on a PDP and reducing a maximum power consumption. The drive art allows one frame to be consisted of a plurality of sub fields each having a different weighting value for brightness so as to display a video signal of gray scale. The plurality of the sub fields are differently arranged along with a distribution of logical values in the video data for one frame, thereby dividing the one frame into a display interval and a non-display interval. Also, the plurality of the sub fields are equal to sub fields without a sub field having a least weighting value for the brightness.
