Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for watermarking using starting phase modulation. An example method disclosed herein includes calculating a first instantaneous phase value for a first watermark component of a watermarked media signal at a first time, calculating a second instantaneous phase value for a second watermark component, determining a first sum of differences for the first and second instantaneous phase values relative to a first possible starting phase value, determining a second sum of differences for the first and second instantaneous phase values relative to a second possible starting phase value, selecting a corresponding one of the first possible starting phase value or the second possible starting phase value to be a starting phase value, decoding a bit value corresponding to the starting phase value, determining a payload based on the bit value and a symbol represented by watermark components.

An example apparatus include a data extractor to determine an anonymized identifier from media monitoring data corresponding to a personal people meter of a panelist; a filter to filter anonymized census data from a plurality of media devices based on the anonymized identifier; a data supplementer to backfill the media monitoring data using the filtered anonymized census data; and a media creditor to credit exposure to media for the panelist based on the backfilled media monitoring data.

An example apparatus includes a watermark evaluator to determine a category indicated by a watermark detected in the media. An apparatus includes a haptic signal generator to obtain a surface haptic control signal that is to cause a touchscreen to vibrate to generate a perception of a texture for a user interacting with the touchscreen. The texture corresponds to content displayed on the touchscreen. The apparatus further includes a watermark encoder to encode a watermark into the surface haptic control signal to generate a watermarked surface haptic control signal. The watermark includes identifying information to identify at least one of the content or the texture.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to identify remote presentation of streaming media are disclosed. An example method includes determining a first identification of streaming data transmitted to a streaming media device. A second identification of media presented by a media presentation device is determined. The first identification is compared to the second identification to determine whether first media identified by the first identification matches second media identified by the second identification. In response to determining that the first media matches the second media, a panelist associated with at least one of the streaming media device and the media presentation device is credited as having been presented the first media by the media presentation device on behalf of the streaming media device.
