  • Patent number: 8237807
Abstract: Several methods for operating a built-in digital camera of a portable, handheld electronic device are described. In one embodiment, the device receives a user selection (e.g., tap, tap and hold, gesture) of a region displayed on the display screen (e.g., touch sensitive screen). A touch to focus mode may then be initiated in response to the user selection and exposure and focus parameters determined and adjusted. Then, an automatic scene detection mechanism can determine whether a scene has changed. If the scene has changed, then the touch to focus mode ends and a default automatic focus mode initiates. This mode sets a new exposure metering area and focus area prior to determining and adjusting exposure and focus parameters, respectively.

  • Patent number: 8119660
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of inhibiting an androgen receptor by administering a compound of Formula I: or a compound of Formula II: wherein R1, R2, R3 and R8 are each independently hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl. R4 is absent or is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or C1-6 alkyl-OH. R5 is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or —NR6R7. R6 and R7 are each independently hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl, or are combined with the nitrogen to which they are attached to form a heterocycloalkyl having from 5 to 7 ring members. L is a linker of C1-6 alkylene, C2-6 alkenylene, C2-6 alkynylene or C3-6 cycloalkylene. The compounds of Formula I include the salts, hydrates and prodrugs thereof. Each R9 is H, C1-6 alkyl, —OH or —O—C1-6 alkyl. The compounds of Formulas I and II include the salts, hydrates and prodrugs thereof. By administering the compound of Formula I or II, the method inhibits the androgen receptor.

  • Publication number: 20110167345
Abstract: A computing device is capable of playing embedded media inline in a network application. A playable validation procedure is performed for the embedded media objects, which have a media source remote from the computing device, to determine whether those embedded media objects are playable on the computing device. The playable validation procedure continues for each embedded media object regardless if one of those objects is selected and is playing inline in the network application. A preview frame loading procedure is also performed on the embedded media objects when it would not substantially affect the playback of a currently playing embedded media object. The preview frame loading procedure loads one or more frames to act as preview frames for the embedded media object.

  • Publication number: 20100319348
Abstract: A waste heat recovery system in which hot waste fluids, such as flue gasses, pass through a fluid heat exchanger configured to transfer energy in the form of heat to a heat transfer liquid, preferably molten salt. The energy in the molten salt is used to generate useable power such as electrical energy. The waste gas heat recovery system is especially adapted for use with batch processes, such as steelmaking and copper converting, and allows continuous or substantially continuous power production.

  • Publication number: 20100043781
Abstract: A solar panel array support system including a plurality of removable, interengaged adjacent support modules of similar configuration. Each support module mounts a PV solar panel, and also a DC-AC inverter electrically connected to the solar panel. The DC-AC inverter is also electrically connectable to additional DC-AC inverters mounted to the adjacent solar panel support modules. Each support module includes flexible male connector elements that enter a slot forming a female connector element in an adjacent support module to pivotally and removably engage each support module to another. Individual modules or a plurality of solar panel support modules can be readily removed from and replaced in a solar panel array, and can be readily removed and installed to form a second modular solar panel array.

  • Publication number: 20080320100
Abstract: A method is provided through which information about media files embedded in web pages is obtained from a server and analyzed to determine if the media files are playable on a device. This information may be external to the media file or may be a portion of the media file itself. • Publication number: 20070119275
Abstract: A method for tapping of steel from a steelmaking furnace to a receiving vessel comprising the steps of providing a steelmaking furnace comprising a tapping hole, and means for angular positioning of the furnace to vary the depth of molten steel and slag contained in the furnace above the tapping hole; determining a guidance profile for the tapping of the furnace, the guidance profile including the parameters of minimum tapping angle, maximum tapping angle, and time of rotation from the minimum tapping angle to the maximum tapping angle; performing an initial angular rotation of the furnace from an initial position to the minimum tapping angle; beginning the transfer of molten steel from the furnace through the tapping hole to a receiving vessel; rotating the furnace to the maximum tapping angle in accordance with the guidance profile; and ceasing the flow of molten steel through the tapping hole.
