  • Publication number: 20150366542
Abstract: High-frequency ultrasound imaging can be performed with greater quality and suppressed grating lobes by using methods and systems for effectively reducing the temporal length of transmit grating lobe signals in received ultrasound echoes. Systems and methods are provided for improved high-frequency ultrasound imaging. In various aspects, the method of shortening the time domain of grating lobe signals comprises splitting an array of N transmit elements into K sub-apertures. In further aspects, the grating lobes are suppressed by performing signal processing of the shortened grating lobe signals. In certain aspects, the signal processing method comprises weighting the samples by a calculated phase coherence factor.

  • Patent number: 9124712
Abstract: A data processing system that, in one embodiment, uses smart reminders to allow a user to decline an incoming phone or messaging call and to cause the system to set a smart reminder about the call. In one embodiment, the system can use the system's current state or context (e.g. the system is in a car or is playing a movie) to determine the type of reminder options to present to the user and to determine when to trigger the reminder based on the reminder option that is selected by the user.

  • Publication number: 20150209005
Abstract: To address limitations of conventional transducers, a phased array transducer is provided with a form factor suitable o for packaging into, e.g., an endoscope. A method of manufacture of small packaging transducers is also provided, whereby the overall package size is reduced by electrically connecting signal wires to array electrodes at an angle approximately normal to the array surface, thus largely eliminating the bend radius requirements of conventional printed circuit boards or flex circuits.

  • Publication number: 20150180822
Abstract: Registering a client computing device for online communication sessions. A registration server receives a message that has a push token that is unique to the client computing device and a phone number of the client computing device from an SMS (Short Message Service) transit device, which received an SMS message having the push token from the client computing device and determined the phone number of the client computing device from that SMS message. The registration server associates the push token and the phone number and stores it in a registration data store, which is used for inviting users for online communication sessions.

  • Patent number: 8965021
Abstract: An implantable bone-conduction hearing actuator based on a piezoelectric element, such as a unimorph or bimorph cantilever bender, is described. Unlike other implantable bone conduction hearing actuators, the device is subcutaneous and once implanted is entirely invisible. • Patent number: 8935217
Abstract: A system and method for submission of digital assets to a digital asset submission system are disclosed. The digital asset submission system can manage submissions of digital assets to a network-based distribution system. Submission of digital assets to the digital asset submission system can be performed over a network in a controlled manner such that the digital assets can be validated prior to transmission of the digital assets to the digital asset submission system. Advantageously, digital assets to be submitted for distribution can be substantially validated before the digital assets are transmitted to the digital asset submission system.

  • Publication number: 20140354113
Abstract: A transducer with triangular cross-sectional shaped pillars is described for suppressing lateral modes within a composite, and a method for producing the same. According to one aspect of the present application, a plurality of triangular cross-sectional shaped pillars extends outwardly from a substrate and form an array of pillars. The resulting array of pillars is configured to suppress the lateral modes of the transducer at higher operating frequencies, such as, at or above 15 MHz, at or above 20 MHz, or at or above 30 MHz.

  • Publication number: 20140306581
Abstract: Among other things, piezoelectric materials and methods of their manufacture are described; particularly methods of forming regions of varying crystal structure within a relaxor piezoelectric substrate. Such methods may including heating the piezoelectric substrate above the transition temperature and below the Curie temperature such that a first phase transition occurs to a first crystal structure; rapidly cooling the piezoelectric substrate below the transition temperature at a cooling rate that is sufficiently high for the first crystal structure to persist; and applying an electric field through one or more selected regions of the piezoelectric substrate, such that within the one or more selected regions, a second phase transition occurs and results in a second crystal structure.

  • Publication number: 20140287632
Abstract: A device and method for using a screw to connect wires to an electrical component, without the need for additional tools, to manipulate the wire around the screw. The device is a screw with a body, head, and hole perpendicular to the rotational axis of the body and adjacent to the screw head. A wire is connected to the electrical component by inserting the end of an exposed wire into the hole through the screw and then tightening the screw, causing the exposed wire to loop around the screw and become secured between the screw and electrical component in a secure manner. For larger holes, a section with a larger diameter than the screw body may be disposed between the screw body and screw head.

  • Patent number: 8704863
Abstract: Transitioning between an audio only circuit switched call and a video call. A client device, which is currently connected to one or more other client devices through an established audio only circuit switched call, receives input from a user to transition from the audio only circuit switched call to the video call. A video call invitation message is transmitted to the other client devices. The client device receives a video call accept message from the other client devices and begins transmitting video captured by its front facing camera to the other client devices. Responsive to receiving at least a video frame from each of the one or more other client devices, the client device transitions from the audio only circuit switched call to the video call. After transitioning to the video call, the circuit switched call is dropped.
