  • Patent number: 10333109
Abstract: Display structures for displays having spaced-apart light-emitting elements. In some embodiments, a display structure includes a metallic contrast enhancer having apertures corresponding to the light-emitting elements. The light-emitting elements may be, for example, integrally formed with a substrate or packaged elements applied to a printed circuit board. In some embodiments, a metallic contrast enhancer of the present disclosure may be incorporated into a touch sensor that can allow a visual display incorporating the touch sensor to operate as a touch screen. Such a touch sensor may be, for example, projected capacitive, surface capacitive, digital-type resistive, or analog-type resistive. In some embodiments, a contrast enhancer may include one or more permanent graphic elements to enhance a visual display.

  • Patent number: 10325541
Abstract: Large-format display systems having color pixels and white pixels are disclosed. In an embodiment, the system includes a video camera, a video processor, and a large-format display that includes the color pixels and the white pixels. The video processor processes the video signal from the video camera, but the video processor does not perform a white-to-RGB conversion. Instead, the information for the white pixels is sent directly to the large-format display to form the color display image. A viewer's visual system performs the white-to-RGB conversion when viewing the color display image. A method of forming the color display image using color pixels and white pixels is also disclosed. Methods of performing color matching using the color pixels and white pixels are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10310554
Abstract: Folding display panels for large-format displays. In an example, the folding display panels are electrically connected by a power cable and a data cable that respectively include a data wire and power wire, and each cable includes a fixed-length section attached at one end to a movable member. When folding adjacent display panels face-to-face, the movable member moves so that the fixed-length section remains taut. Slack in the data wire and power wire accommodate the movement of the corresponding fixed-length section. A column of display panels can be z-folded for compact storage and can be rapidly deployed to form a large-format display.

Abstract: A segmented transparent LCD is disclosed that includes a LC module that is substantially transparent to visible light. The segmented transparent LCD includes an array of spaced apart display segments supported by the LCD module. Each display segment is configured to display a segment of the display image. Each display segment includes a non-specular light-redirecting segment configured to provide localized backlight to the display segment when the ambient light is incident thereon. The segmented transparent LCD allows for a display image to be displayed and viewed while also allowing a viewer to see through one or more transparent regions that separate the display segments. Methods of displaying a display image using the segmented transparent LCD are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180324398
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to an apparatus for controlling a lighting device. A light control circuit can use a controlled lighting sequence control and drive viewed sections of a lighting device to display chroma key color or emit infrared light, while driving other unviewed portions of the lighting device to display ambient and incident lighting. The viewed and unviewed lighting sections can be based on the field of vision of an image capture device and can change in relation to movements of the image capture device. A sensor can make measurements to determine to field of vision of the image capture device and can be used to generate or modify the controlled lighting sequence. An image processing circuit can generate a composite image using the chroma key while maintaining the subjects that are captured using ambient and incident lighting.

  • Patent number: 9864561
Abstract: Discrete electronic modules, such as display tiles, designed and configured to be mosaicked and operatively connected with one another and/or to one or more differing types of discrete electronic modules. In some embodiments, the electronic modules are electrically connected together using electrical connector units that are separate and distinct from the electronic modules. In some embodiments, the connector units are connector biscuits. In some embodiments, the connector units are hub connectors. Connector units of the present disclosure can be designed and configured to allow an electronic module connected thereby and part of a panel of display tiles to be installed and removed by moving the module only in a direction normal to a viewing face of the panel at that module.
