  • Publication number: 20220063495
Abstract: The disclosure is generally directed to systems and methods for prioritizing driver warnings in a vehicle. In one example, a first sensor in the vehicle may detect a first driving event, such as, for example, another vehicle that is traveling in a blind spot of the driver. A second sensor in the vehicle may detect a second driving event, such as, for example, that the driver of the vehicle is tailgating another vehicle. A driver warning system in the vehicle produces a driver warning based on prioritizing one of the two driving events. For example, the driver warning system may prioritize a warning pertaining to the tailgating action over a warning pertaining to the vehicle moving in the blind spot. In some cases, the prioritization may be carried out by using historical information about the two driving events.

  • Publication number: 20220063620
Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to control at least one of a steering system or a propulsion system to operate a vehicle at a speed below a speed threshold. The instructions include instructions to determine whether one or more second vehicles a first distance from the vehicle are traveling below the speed threshold. The instructions include instructions to, upon determining the second vehicles are traveling below the speed threshold, continue to control the steering system or the propulsion system. The instructions include instructions to, upon determining the second vehicles are not traveling below the speed threshold, transition control of the steering system or the propulsion system to a human operator of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11263901
Abstract: Traffic light phase timing effectiveness is determined. Connected vehicle data indicative of traffic conditions for one or more intersections is received. Factors from the connected vehicle data that are indicative of intersection performance are identified. The factors are weighted according to defined weights to determine an intersection score. Based on the score failing to meet one or more criteria, an alert to adjust intersection cycle is provided.

  • Patent number: 11262201
Abstract: A vehicle can be operated in an identified map area. Output is obtained from a first classifier, based on input including the map area and one or more current environmental conditions detected in the map area, specifying a first probability that the map area is currently available for sensing to support input-free operation of the vehicle. Then, if and only if the first probability indicates that the map area is currently available for sensing to support input-free operation of the vehicle, output is obtained from a second classifier, based on input including the map area and the one or more current environmental conditions, specifying a second probability that the vehicle will traverse the map area without a minimum risk maneuver event. Then, if and only if the second probability indicates that the vehicle will traverse the map area without a minimum risk maneuver event, operating the vehicle in an input-free mode in the map area.

  • Publication number: 20220001886
Abstract: Example embodiments described in this disclosure are generally directed to using a vehicle to identify a status of a garage door, such as, for identifying whether the garage door is fully closed, fully open, or partially open. The identification may be carried out in response to an inquiry from an individual, such as, a driver of the vehicle that has exited through the garage door. A detection apparatus such as an image capture system or an ultrasonic sensor that can be a part of a vehicle security system may be used for identifying the status of the garage door. The image capture system may capture and store an image of the garage door when the vehicle is exiting the garage. Upon receiving an inquiry from the driver, the garage door status detection system may display the image on a smartphone of the driver or an infotainment system in the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20210209648
Abstract: Vehicle manufacturers may leverage one vehicle of a household to gain intelligence to determine whether a new vehicle may be purchased or an existing vehicle may be replaced for the household. Techniques include identifying a home geofence space that identifies the household at the household address for the vehicle. The sensor data from the vehicle can be used to identify other vehicles within the home geofence space. When other vehicles are identified that match appropriate criteria, the other vehicles may be associated with the household. Further observation of the other vehicles and the behavior of the members of the household can be used to identify when an existing vehicle of the household may be replaced and/or a new vehicle may be purchased. Upon determining that a new or replacement vehicle may be purchased, marketing materials may be provided to the household to aid the household with purchasing the new vehicle.
