  • Publication number: 20200327566
Abstract: Systems and methods evaluating and predicting fuel station usage are provided herein. An example method includes establishing geo-fencing parameters around one or more fueling stations; determining when vehicles encounter geo-fences of the fueling stations based on the geo-fencing parameters, such that encounters relative to the geo-fences are associated with entry timestamps; determining an aggregate number of the vehicles encountering each of the geo-fences over a period of time based on the entry timestamps; determining waiting times for the vehicles at each of the fueling stations; and transmitting a message to a portion of the vehicles that indicate which of the fueling stations are busy or have short wait times based on the aggregate number of the vehicles encountering each of the geo-fences and the waiting times.

  • Patent number: 10797815
Abstract: A memory is configured to store listener data indicative of radio stations listened to by a plurality of listeners and genre classifications of the radio stations. A processor is programmed to combine a plurality of the genre classifications into a single combined genre classification responsive to listener behavior across the plurality of listeners indicating overlap in listening to the plurality of the genre classifications; separate one of the genre classifications into a plurality of separated genre classifications responsive to listener behavior across the plurality of listeners indicating disparate subsets of radio stations within the one of the genre classifications; and reclassify the radio stations according to the genre classifications as updated.

  • Patent number: 5956106
Abstract: A light source destructuring and shaping device which both homogenizes and imparts predetermined directionality to light rays emanating from a light source is disclosed. The device comprises a micro-sculpted surface structure which controls the direction in which light propagates in either reflection or transmission. The sculpted surface structure also homogenizes light propagating through it with predetermined directionality. The device may be used in an almost unlimited number of applications which require homogenization and which would benefit from being able to impart directionality to light waves propagating from a light source. These applications include existing diffuser applications and applications wherein it was not practical to use conventional diffusers. The homogenizing and shaping device achieves these benefits with very high transmission or reflection efficiency and with reduced side lobes.

  • Patent number: 5631754
Abstract: Systems and methods for shaping light from a liquid crystal display are described. A holographic high contrast viewing screen embedded in a liquid crystal display includes a first substrate; a first electrode connected to said first substrate; a light shaping holographic surface relief diffuser connected to said first electrode, said light shaping holographic surface relief diffuser having a first orientation and a first refractive index; a liquid crystal adjacent said light shaping holographic surface relief diffuser, the liquid crystal having a second refractive index that is substantially equal to the first refractive index, in the absence of a driving voltage applied to the first electrode and the second electrode; an alignment layer adjacent said liquid crystal, said alignment layer having a second orientation that is substantially orthogonal to said first orientation; a second electrode connected to said alignment layer; and a second substrate connected to said second electrode.

  • Patent number: 5609939
Abstract: A viewing screen for incident light including a sheet of embossable material in which a first micro-sculpted surface relief structure that controls the direction in which light propagates has been formed by replicating in the sheet of embossable material a second micro-sculpted surface structure that controls the direction in which light propagates, the second micro-sculpted surface structure having been formed in a photosensitive medium having a refractive index by (i) generating random, disordered and non-planar speckle in the photosensitive medium with coherent light which has been diffused through a holographic diffuser so as to define non-discontinuous and smoothly varying changes in the refractive index of the photosensitive medium which scatter collimated light into a controlled pattern with smooth brightness variation and (ii) developing the photosensitive medium, the incident light being incident on and returned from the viewing screen to a viewing area, the viewing screen controlling the direction o
