  • Patent number: 10181260
Abstract: A method of informing a user of an identity of an input of a remote control device is presented. In the method, user activation of one of the inputs of the remote control device is detected. An audible signal associated with the activated input is determined. Each of the inputs of the remote control device is associated with a unique one of a plurality of audible signals. The audible signal associated with the activated input is produced to inform the user of the identity of that input.

  • Patent number: 10171924
Abstract: Various arrangements for providing audio calibration are presented. A remote control may determine that it is in position for an audio-based command to be received by the remote control from a user. Via a condenser microphone incorporated as part of the remote control, a calibration sound may be output. The condenser microphone may receive the output the calibration sound in the form of a reflected sound that is an acoustic reflection of the calibration sound. The remote control may analyze an amount of time that has elapsed between outputting the calibration sound and receiving the reflected sound to determine a distance between the condenser microphone and the user. One or more audio input settings may be configured that are used for modifying audio received by the condenser microphone based on the determined distance.

  • Patent number: 9854467
Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are provided for diagnosing a wireless module of a device. An exemplary method involves operating a second wireless module of the device to transmit data on a second wireless channel that overlaps, at least in part, a first wireless channel. A measured response associated with the first wireless channel concurrent to the data transmitted on the second wireless channel is obtained from the first wireless module and a remedial action is initiated with respect to the first wireless module based at least in part on the measured response.

  • Patent number: 9836110
Abstract: A microcontroller-based electronic device and its operating methods are operable to learn a critical voltage value for a microprocessor control unit residing in the microcontroller-based electronic device. The microprocessor control unit receives power from a battery. An exemplary embodiment detects an operating voltage provided to the microprocessor control unit by a supplemental power reservoir after removal of the battery, stores information corresponding to a value of the operating voltage in a nonvolatile memory, repeats the detecting and the saving information as the operating voltage decays in response to a discharge of the supplemental power reservoir, and determines the actual minimum operating voltage for the microprocessor control unit based on a last one of the stored information corresponding to the value of the operating voltage. A learned critical voltage value is based upon the defined actual minimum operating voltage.

  • Patent number: 9755664
Abstract: A keyboard is able to illuminate particular keys and to detect keypresses in an efficient manner. The keys of the array are logically arranged into one or more two-dimensional arrays (e.g., row/column arrays) so that the illumination and keypress detection functions share a common set of electrical signal lines in one dimension of the array. By coupling both the lights and the key actuation switches of each key to a common set of signal lines in one dimension, the number of signal lines used in the keyboard can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 9599640
Abstract: Various arrangements for determining a voltage of a voltage source using pre-charging are presented. Such arrangements may include a measurement module which includes an analog to digital converter, a driver, and an interface. The interface may be electrically coupled with the analog to digital converter and the driver. The driver may be configured to output current to charge a capacitor. After a first predefined period of time, the driver may stop outputting current to pre-charge the capacitor. After the driver has stopped pre-charging the capacitor and a second predefined period of time has elapsed, the analog to digital converter may be configured to measure a voltage of the capacitor. Such arrangements may include a capacitor, wherein the capacitor is electrically coupled with the interface of the measurement module.
