  • Publication number: 20230354034
Abstract: A method is provided that is performed in a wireless network to detect a rogue wireless device. The method comprises detecting a suspect wireless device in the wireless network based on messages transmitted by the suspect wireless device using a first Media Access Control (MAC) address that is also used by a valid wireless device in the wireless network. When a suspect wireless device is detected, the method next includes sending to the valid wireless device in the wireless network a request configured to cause the valid wireless device to change its MAC address. After the valid wireless device has changed its MAC address, the method involves observing messages transmitted by the suspect wireless device in the wireless network. The method then includes determining that the suspect wireless device is a rogue device when the suspect wireless device continues to transmit messages using the first MAC address.

  • Patent number: 11799948
Abstract: Cloud services are provided by a distributed network including a number of geographically distributed datacenters, to client devices in accordance with data sovereignty requirements. A server within the distributed network may receive a service request and determine whether it complies with the data sovereignty requirements of the client. When the geographic location of the server does not comply with the client's data sovereignty requirements, the server may determine and transmit back to the client device a set of alternative datacenters within the distributed network that comply with the client's data sovereignty requirements. The client device may use network probes to select an alternative datacenter, and the cloud service request of the client device may be migrated from the server to the selected datacenter.

  • Patent number: 11792658
Abstract: Wireless infrastructure upgrading may be provided. An Access Point (AP) may be caused to decline new association requests received from client devices not associated with the AP. Next, the AP may be caused to instruct client devices associated with the AP that detect a signal level from the AP to be below their roaming margin to roam away from the AP. Then the power of the signal level from the AP may be decreased by a predetermined amount. Causing the AP to instruct client devices associated with the AP that detect the signal level from the AP to be below their roaming margin to roam away from the AP and decreasing the power of the signal level from the AP may be repeated until the power of the signal level from the AP is at a predetermined level.

  • Publication number: 20230328142
Abstract: Preserving transmission properties of real-time scenes in an environment when an increasing number of users join a session may be provided. A plurality of metrics associated with transmission of scenes having a Coarse Grain (CG) layer and a Fine Grain (FG) layer may be determined. Then a current client, based on a first one of a plurality of metrics, may be revoked. One of the following may then be performed: blocking a new client based on a second one of a plurality of metrics; and allowing the new client based on the second one of a plurality of metrics.

  • Patent number: 11776087
Abstract: A server that includes a graphics processing unit (GPU) may receive, from a first application that is remote from the server, a first request to reserve a first number of cores of the GPU for a first amount of time. The server may also receive, from a second application that is also remote from the server, a second request to reserve a second number of cores of the GPU for a second amount of time that at least partly overlaps the first amount of time. The server may determine that the first request is associated with a higher priority than the second request and, in response, may reserve the first number of cores for the first amount of time for the first application. The server may send, to the first application, an indication that the first number of cores have been reserved as requested by the first application.

  • Publication number: 20230300680
Abstract: Techniques for dynamically negotiating a service legal agreement (SLA) between a roaming device and a visited network (VN) in an identity federation. An identity profile provided to a user device by an identity provider (IDP) is accessed by the user device. The identity profile includes a first SLA criteria. An advertisement from the VN indicating one or more SLAs supported by the VN is received at the user device. The advertisement is received before the user device has associated with the VN. The IDP and the VN are part of a same identity federation. It is determined that the SLA supported by the VN satisfies the first SLA criteria. Upon that determination, an acceptance is transmitted by the user device to the VN, and the user device is associated with the VN.

  • Publication number: 20230300771
Abstract: This technology allows time synchronization in wireless networks with mobile stations. A wireless network controller transmits instructions to access points (“APs”) within the wireless network to monitor transmissions for time synchronization. One or more second APs observe fine time measurement (“FTM”) exchanges between a first AP and a mobile station. A particular second AP determines whether to perform a time synchronization with the first AP based on the detection of the FTM exchange or a determination that the station is moving toward the second AP. For time synchronization, the second AP determines the time that the first AP transmitted the FTM exchange and the time of transmission from the first AP to the second AP. The second AP synchronizes a second AP clock to the summation of the time of the transmission of the FTM exchange and the time of transmission from the first AP to the second AP.

  • Patent number: 11765153
Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to a process of evaluating any number of different identity providers (IDPs) and their respective set of credentials that are used to authenticate corresponding users to assist with the onboarding of the different IDPs in connection with Wi-Fi identity federations. In particular, the process allows a person's electronic identity and attributes (stored across one or more IDPs) to be determined once using a standard. Once trust has been established for the user, that trust can then be utilized across a number of different systems (e.g., Single-sign on). The same trust determination can be used without the need for the authenticity of the user identity to be re-evaluated with each new access request.

  • Patent number: 11764912
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises: classifying, by a controller device, a first access point device in a WLAN as a leader access point for a wireless client device, and at least a second access point device as a follower access point; and allocating, to the leader access point, a shortened medium access control layer timer (“timer”) that is shorter than a prescribed timer used by the follower access point, the shortened timer causing the leader access point to respond to reception of a wireless data packet from the wireless client device by transmitting an acknowledgment to the wireless client device upon expiration of the shortened timer; the prescribed timer causing the follower access point to defer to the leader access point based on the follower access point waiting for at least expiration of the prescribed timer before selectively transmitting a corresponding acknowledgment in response to receiving the wireless data packet.

  • Patent number: 11758508
Abstract: Access Point (AP) placement using Fine Time Measurement (FTM) may be provided. First, a plurality of Time-of-Flight (ToF) values between a first service end point and a second service end point may be determined. Each one of the plurality of ToF values may be derived from packets transmitted via different beamforming vector patterns at the first service end point and the second service end point. Then a minimum ToF value of the plurality of ToF values may be determined. Next, a distance between the first service end point and the second service end point may be determined based on the minimum ToF value.
