Abstract: A device, method and system or performing visual set operations to modify and generate lists, and methods thereof are provided. Provided at a display of a device, are: a first graphical representation indicative of a first list and a second graphical representation indicative of a second list, the first list and the second list comprising common elements, and a graphical intersection of the first graphical representation and the second graphical representation is indicative of the common elements. Via a processor of the device, the graphical intersection is separated from one or more of the first graphical representation and the second graphical representation, such that one or more additional lists are generated based on the separating, each of the one or more additional lists comprising a respective one of: the common elements; the first list minus the common elements; and, the second list minus the common elements.

Abstract: A method for processing input from a keyboard of a hand-held computing device includes receiving a plurality of key input events and, from the plurality of key input events, determining whether there is a double selection event corresponding to a specified key from the keyboard. Further, the method includes, when it is determined that there is the double selection event corresponding to the specified key, determining a key selection offset between a first and second key selection action of the double selection. The method also includes deciding whether the key selection offset is substantially equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold and, when it is decided that the key selection offset is substantially equal to or greater than the predetermined threshold, using at least a first key as key input of the double selection event. The first key and the specified key are different.

Abstract: A communication device includes a display with a layout including key locations with associated characters. The communication device detects an input gesture and determines one or more committed characters based at least in part on a change in the input gesture. The device presents one or more strings on the layout in association with key locations that are selected based at least in part on a relationship between each presented string and non-committed characters of each presented string.

Abstract: A method for providing visual cues rendered on a display is provided. The method comprises: detecting a touch input associated with a user interface element rendered on the display; determining an input direction of the touch input; and displaying on the display a visual cue associated with the user interface element, wherein the visual cue is located at a position based on the input direction of the touch input.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a method, computer program product, mobile device for delivering a navigational notification generated for a mobile device. The delivering of the navigational notification includes obtaining one or more notification parameters and one or more audio parameters; and controlling the delivery of the navigational notification at least partly based on the notification parameters and the audio parameters. The notification parameters are indicative of one or more aspects of the navigational notification such as time-sensitivity, priority or the like. Various configurations of computer program products, mobile devices and systems for controlling the delivery of the navigational notification are also described.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting a touch of a first key associated with a first character on the keyboard, detecting a touch of a second key corresponding to a second character on the keyboard, determining an order for previewing the first and second characters in response to the detecting, and previewing the first and second characters in the determined order in an information entry field of the electronic device.

Abstract: Methods and devices for facilitating presentation feedback during a local presentation are provided. In example embodiments, the local presentation includes an electronic presentation displayed on a display associated with a presentation device. In one aspect, the method comprises: providing a feedback interface for the electronic presentation and allowing one or more mobile communication devices to access the feedback interface; receiving at the feedback interface, feedback information from one or more of the mobile communication devices; and updating the electronic presentation based on the received feedback information.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for improving word prediction candidate selection in an electronic device. Input of one or more characters is received via a capacitive physical keyboard. A word prediction process generates a set of word prediction candidates, determines a unique character in each word prediction candidate, and displays the word prediction candidates along with visual indicia to indicate the unique character. A second input is then received comprising a tap input of a single character on the keyboard. The electronic device determines whether the second input corresponds to a unique character associated with any of the word prediction candidates, and if so, displays the selected word in an input field on the display.

Abstract: A method of authenticating a user of a computing device is proposed, together with computing device on which the method is implemented. In the method a modified base image is overlaid with a modified overlay image on a display and at least one of the modified base image and modified overlay image is moved by the user. Positive authentication is indicated in response to the base image reference point on the modified base image being aligned with the overlay image reference point on the modified overlay image and selection of a color for a portion of the display that matches a pre-selected color.

Abstract: A method for processing input from a keyboard of a hand-held computing device includes receiving a plurality of key input events and, from the plurality of key input events, determining whether there is a double selection event corresponding to a specified key from the keyboard. Further, the method includes, when it is determined that there is the double selection event corresponding to the specified key, determining a key selection offset between a first and second key selection action of the double selection. The method also includes deciding whether the key selection offset is substantially equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold and, when it is decided that the key selection offset is substantially equal to or greater than the predetermined threshold, using at least a first key as key input of the double selection event. The first key and the specified key are different.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for concealing content displayed on electronic devices. The method includes concealing content of a first application user interface and displaying a reveal window on a portion of the first application user interface, the reveal window providing a view of a portion of the content of the first application user interface. The method also includes enabling the reveal window to be moved to provide additional views of portions of the content of the first application user interface.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for entering characters into an electronic device. Character inputs from a keyboard are displayed on a display of an electronic device and a set of suggested character sequences are also presented on the display in proximity to the displayed text. When a user digit position is sensed in a region of the keyboard, a suggested character sequence of the set of suggested character sequences that is associated with that region of the keyboard is visually indicated or highlighted. Responsive to a sensed motion gesture beginning at the sensed user digit position, the suggested character sequence indicated by the sensed user digit position is selected for input to the electronic device.

Abstract: A portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device includes a memory configured to store instructions, and a screen configured to display data. The portable electronic device also includes a keyboard including a plurality of physical keys configured to receive key inputs. Each of the physical keys is associated with inputting a primary character and a secondary character. The portable electronic device further includes a processor configured to execute the instructions to detect an input of a physical key, determine whether the input is a press input or a tap input, the press input being associated with inputting the primary character, and the tap input being associated with inputting the secondary character. The processor is further configured to execute the instructions to enable display on the screen of the secondary character associated with the physical key based on the determination that the input is a tap input.

Abstract: Methods and systems for predicting user input on a keyboard. Methods include enabling user input on a display comprising at least three fields. The first field displays an input string that is based on input selections such as keyboard entries. The second field displays a candidate prediction generated based on other input selections, consisting at least in part of a proposed completion to the input selection, and partially based on the input string in the first field. The third field displays another candidate prediction generated based on the input string in the first field as well as the candidate prediction in the second field.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for presenting a reminder for a PIM record when there may be an opportunity for personal interaction regarding the PIM record. The opportunity for personal interaction regarding the PIM record may be identified in response to a trigger condition not associated with the PIM record. In one embodiment, an opportunity for interaction regarding a PIM record may be identified using identification information associated with the trigger condition. In another embodiment, an opportunity for interaction regarding a first PIM record may be identified when there is a contact associated with the first PIM record and a second PIM record, and there is an occurrence of a trigger condition associated with a second PIM record. In some embodiments, the portable electronic device may utilize additional information to identify or verify opportunities for interaction regarding a PIM record.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for improving word prediction candidate selection in an electronic device. Input of one or more characters is received via a capacitive physical keyboard. A word prediction process generates a set of word prediction candidates, determines a unique character in each word prediction candidate, and displays the word prediction candidates along with visual indicia to indicate the unique character. A second input is then received comprising a tap input of a single character on the keyboard. The electronic device determines whether the second input corresponds to a unique character associated with any of the word prediction candidates, and if so, displays the selected word in an input field on the display.

Abstract: In one example, information is presented to a user through an electronic device in a non-visual manner. In this example, an informational event is received. Next, a determination is made if the informational event has been previously associated with a binaural sound sequence, the binaural sound sequence includes a user's nominal ear spacing for sound localization in a 3D space. The binaural sound sequence is presented to a multimedia port, in response to a binaural sound sequence being previously associated with the event. The localization in the 3D space using a binaural sound can be associated with importance, future times, source of information associated with the event, a person associated with the event, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A virtual keyboard providing an indication of received input and method of controlling the same is provided. The method comprises receiving an input of a character from a virtual keyboard displayed on a display, and highlighting a key in the virtual keyboard which corresponds to the input character when the input character belongs to a current set of characters which is incomplete.
