  • Patent number: 9094358
Abstract: Contact information, such as an email address, may be known for some recipients, but may be unknown or out-of-date (or obsolete) for others. However, often a group of recipients are related to each other with potentially overlapping social networks. In such cases, data can be communicated directly to those recipients that are known or can otherwise be contacted directly, while relying on such “direct recipients” to act as one or more proxies for sending the data to the others in the group, e.g. using their local contact information. A server can also be used to provide updates to the originating device or provide access to the list as it evolves, to enable the originating device to see who has received the data even if they are unaware of how the data reached those other devices.

  • Patent number: 9066310
Abstract: A quantity that falls within a defined continuum defined by first and second end points of a gauge is communicated. Non-visual notifications indicate where on the continuum a current gauge value associated with a function of an electronic device resides relative to at least one end point of the first and second end points of the continuum. The non-visual notifications include a non-visual notification of the at least one end point of the continuum and a non-visual notification of the current gauge value.

  • Patent number: 8995948
Abstract: A location-based call forwarding method comprises, in response to determining that an intended call recipient is unavailable to receive a call from a caller, identifying an alternate call recipient located within a predetermined proximity of a current location of the intended call recipient, and forwarding the call to the alternate call recipient. The alternate call recipient may be identified by determining a person with whom the intended recipient is meeting or an establishment where the intended recipient is situated. This information may be extracted from various sources such as a calendar, social network site, or device-generated location data.

  • Patent number: 8972241
Abstract: A system and method provide bidirectional context-based text disambiguation. In one implementation, a processor receives an input text comprising a set of string objects, which may include ambiguous objects such as incomplete or unrecognizable words of a selected language. The processor identifies a set of candidate word objects corresponding to at least a first one of the string objects and a second one of the string objects. Each candidate word object represents, for example, a complete or recognizable word of the selected language. The processor outputs a selected word object in place of a first one of the string objects, as a function of a contextual comparison between one or more candidate word objects corresponding to the first string object and one or more candidate word objects corresponding to the second string object.

  • Patent number: 8953845
Abstract: A method of authenticating a user of a computing device is proposed, together with computing device on which the method is implemented. A plurality of objects is displayed on a display screen. The plurality of objects includes at least objects that make up a plurality of objects of the user's passcode. In response to a trigger signal an image of the user's face is captured while looking at one of the objects on the display screen. A determination of which object is in the direction of the user's gaze is made from the image and whether or not the gaze is on an object which is part of the passcode. A plurality of trigger signals may be generated to capture a plurality of images.
