  • Patent number: 10049349
Abstract: In some examples, methods and systems may process one or more payment transactions between a merchant and a customer by establishing a short-range communication channel between a first computing device associated with a first user a second computing device associated with a second user. The method includes receiving, while the first computing device is offline with respect to a payment processing system, a fund transfer request from the second computing device, where the fund transfer request includes a payment proxy of the second user, the payment proxy having the syntax of a monetary currency indicator preceding an alphanumeric character. The method includes sending the fund transfer request from the first computing device to payment processing system after the first computing device establishes network connectivity with the payment processing system using a long range communication network protocol. The payment processing system processes the request unless the request has been previously authorized.

  • Patent number: 9922324
Abstract: Disclosed are system and methods for purchasing items on a website or a mobile application using a single verification action. The disclosed technique allows a user to initiate a purchase transaction with a merchant via a mobile application on a mobile device and select a mobile payment application associated with a payment service system as a payment method. The mobile application then passes at least a transaction amount and a merchant identifier to the mobile payment application to handover processing of the purchase transaction to the mobile payment application. The mobile payment application, based on preference settings, if any, and otherwise default settings, determines whether to request a confirmation from the user to proceed with the purchase transaction. Once a decision to proceed with the purchase transaction is made, the mobile payment application sends a request to the payment service system to complete the purchase transaction by paying the merchant.

  • Patent number: 9843238
Abstract: An adapter is used to couple a prime mover body to a housing of a generator. The adapter has openings that allow an armature of the generator to be attached to the flywheel of the prime mover. The adapter provides a torque coupling between the prime mover and the generator so that the attachments of the prime mover and generator to the skid, as well as the skid itself, can be reduced in size and weight because they no longer need to oppose the prime mover-generator torque load. A thickness of the adapter and a pattern of the openings in the body of the adapter are selected to move any natural resonance frequencies of the adapter outside an operating frequency of the prime mover.

  • Patent number: 9767443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for timing a notification of an online financial event are disclosed. A sender initiates a financial transaction involving a recipient, such as a transfer payment to the recipient, by sending a message to the recipient and a computer system. The computer system obtains contact information for the sender and recipient from the message, and determines that the financial transaction cannot be completed without additional information from, e.g., the sender. The computer system sends a message to the sender requesting the additional information, and determines a period of time to wait before notifying the recipient that the transfer payment was initiated. If the period of time expires without the sender providing the additional information, the computer system sends the notification message. However, if the sender responds within the period of time, no notification message is sent, thereby avoiding the sending of a potentially unnecessary message.

  • Publication number: 20160125370
Abstract: Described is a technology for executing financial transactions, e.g., payment transfers, by enabling a sender to trigger a money transfer by specifying, in any communication message, an input having a particular syntax, the syntax including a monetary indicator preceding one or more numeric characters. The input having the syntax indicates an intent of the sender to transfer money to a recipient. The money transfer can be implemented in the context of an instant messaging application (e.g., cross-platform chat application). For example, a sender can send a chat message to a recipient, where that chat message includes an input carrying the syntax (e.g., $10). Detection of such syntax can trigger a money transfer from the sender to the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20160125369
Abstract: Described is a technology for facilitating money transfer between a sender and a recipient by use of a payment proxy associated with the recipient. The technology enables a sender, who desires to send cash to a recipient, using an application (e.g., a payment service application, a messaging application, etc.), to specify the recipient by inputting, in a message being created using the application, one or more alphanumeric characters and a monetary currency indicator prefixing the alphanumeric characters (e.g., $alex). The monetary currency indicator operates as a tagging mechanism that indicates to a computer system, receiving the message, to treat the input(s) as a request from the sender to transfer cash, wherein detection of a specified syntax, which includes the alphanumeric character tagged by a monetary currency indicator, triggers a transfer of cash.
