  • Patent number: 9202207
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for transferring money using email. One of the methods includes receiving, at a user device, user input of a request to transfer a payment amount from a recipient account with a payment service system to a sender account of a sender with the payment service system. A draft email message is generated, the message having content identifying the requested payment amount, the draft email message including a confirmation link to a network resource associated with the payment service system, wherein upon receiving an indication that the recipient selected the confirmation link, the payment service system identifies a sender account of the sender and a recipient account of the recipient and initiates a transfer of the requested payment amount from the recipient account to the sender account.

  • Publication number: 20150339668
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for purchasing items from a merchant using a single verification action. The disclosed technique includes receiving a payment request including a communication identifier and a security code from the merchant. The payment request is generated in response to a user submitting the communication identifier and the security code that satisfy a verification criterion and the submission avoids a need for the user to provide a payment card number associated with a payment card to the merchant and the need for the user to sign in to an account to proceed with the purchase transaction. The disclosed technique uses the received information to identify a payment card and processes the payment request by initiating a transfer of a payment amount from a financial account associated with the payment card to a financial account associated with the merchant to complete the purchase transaction.

  • Publication number: 20150339656
Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for purchasing items from a merchant system using a single verification action. A user initiates a purchase transaction from a user interface of the merchant system by submitting a communication identifier in lieu of payment information or login credentials. The merchant system then generates a payment request including the communication identifier and sends the request to a payment service system. The payment service system uses the communication identifier to identify a verification device and send a push notification to the verification device to request the user to confirm or cancel the purchase transaction. Upon receiving confirmation from the user, the payment service system initiates a transfer of a payment amount associated with the purchase transaction from a financial account associated communication identifier to a financial account associated with the merchant system to pay for the purchase transaction.

  • Publication number: 20150339666
Abstract: Disclosed are system and methods for purchasing items on a website or a mobile application using a single verification action. The disclosed technique allows a user to initiate a purchase transaction with a merchant via a mobile application on a mobile device and select a mobile payment application associated with a payment service system as a payment method. The mobile application then passes at least a transaction amount and a merchant identifier to the mobile payment application to handover processing of the purchase transaction to the mobile payment application. The mobile payment application, based on preference settings, if any, and otherwise default settings, determines whether to request a confirmation from the user to proceed with the purchase transaction. Once a decision to proceed with the purchase transaction is made, the mobile payment application sends a request to the payment service system to complete the purchase transaction by paying the merchant.

  • Publication number: 20150310404
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for sending or requesting money to or from multiple recipients using email. One of the methods includes receiving, at a user device, user input from a sender of a request to send a respective payment amount from a sender account of the sender with a payment service system to multiple recipient accounts of the payment service system. User input indicating respective recipient email addresses for the multiple recipients is received. A draft email message is generated, the draft email message being addressed to each of the multiple recipients, the draft email message including respective recipient email addresses for each of the multiple recipients. An indication that the sender sent the email message to the multiple recipients is sent to a payment service system.

  • Publication number: 20150126724
Abstract: A fluid sample extraction device is disclosed comprising a housing defining an internal fluid passage having a distal open end and a proximal open end and a porous medium within the fluid passage, between the distal open end and proximal open end. The porous medium, which may be glass, is configured to allow fluid flow in the fluid passage to flow around the porous medium, toward the proximal open end of the housing, when fluid is drawn from the distal open end toward the proximal open end, and to allow fluid in the fluid passage to flow toward the distal open end of the housing, through the porous medium when the fluid is forced toward the distal open end. The porous medium is also configured to capture nucleic acids in the porous medium from the fluid when fluid is forced through the porous medium. Devices and kits are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140206412
Abstract: An analytic device comprising a device housing, a dock to receive a camera enabled mobile electronic device, such as a smartphone and other smart devices, and a processing device to communicate with the mobile electronic device and to control a condition of the assay tube, such as temperature. In another example, the analytic device comprises a device housing and a circuit board. A processing device, a heating block defining a recess to support assay tube, and a resistive heater are surface mounted to the circuit board. A light source and a fan are also provided. A dock may be provided to support a mobile electronic device. The mobile electronic device communicates with the processing device to cause the application of reaction conditions to the assay tube, to perform a PCR procedure, for example. Methods are also disclosed.
