  • Publication number: 20180200342
Abstract: The invention relates to the improvement of endonuclease-based antimicrobials by blocking DNA repair of double-strand break(s) (DSB(s)) in prokaryotic cells. In this respect, the invention especially concerns a method involving blocking DNA repair after a nucleic acid has been submitted to DSB, in particular by a Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) associated programmable double-strand endonuclease. The invention particularly relates to the use of an exogenous molecule that inhibits DNA repair, preferably a protein that binds to the ends of the double-stranded break to block DSB repair. The invention also relates to vectors, particularly phagemids and plasmids, comprising nucleic acids encoding nucleases and Gam proteins, and a pharmaceutical composition and a product containing these vectors and their application.

  • Patent number: 9979580
Abstract: Coding techniques for a (e.g., OFDM) communication system capable of transmitting data on a number of “transmission channels” at different information bit rates based on the channels' achieved SNR. A base code is used in combination with common or variable puncturing to achieve different coding rates required by the transmission channels. The data (i.e., information bits) for a data transmission is encoded with the base code, and the coded bits for each channel (or group of channels with the similar transmission capabilities) are punctured to achieve the required coding rate. The coded bits may be interleaved (e.g., to combat fading and remove correlation between coded bits in each modulation symbol) prior to puncturing. The unpunctured coded bits are grouped into non-binary symbols and mapped to modulation symbols (e.g., using Gray mapping). The modulation symbol may be “pre-conditioned” and prior to transmission.

  • Publication number: 20170255491
Abstract: A job that receives as input a data stream is executed. For the job, it is iteratively determined a backlog growth over a first period of time; a backlog volume; and whether to adjust a quantity of processing resources. For each iteration for which the quantity of processing resources allocated to the job are determined to be adjusted, adjusting the quantity of processing resources allocated to the job. For each iteration for which the quantity of processing resources allocated to the job are determined not to be adjusted, maintaining the quantity of processing resources allocated to the job.

  • Patent number: 9591594
Abstract: An apparatus includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to perform operations that include determining power information indicative of total power of a designated number of channelization codes. Determining the power information comprises scaling a power offset value based on a number of available channelization codes and the designated number of channelization codes. The operations also include sending the power information to user equipment (UE). The operations further include determining a particular number of transport blocks and determining a distinct channel quality indicator (CQI) index of each of the transport blocks based on a CQI value received from the UE.

  • Patent number: 9524323
Abstract: Evaluating an expression tree. A method includes, at a first domain, accessing an expression tree. The expression tree comprises a plurality of nested expressions. The plurality of nested expressions spans a plurality of domains. The expressions in the expression tree are expressed in a common format in spite of the different expressions of the expression tree being intended to be evaluated by different domains. At the first domain, the method includes evaluating one or more references to local variables included in the plurality of nested expressions. The method further includes determining that one or more expressions in the plurality of expressions are to be evaluated by a different domain. The method further includes expanding the one or more expressions in the plurality of expressions to be evaluated by different domains to allow the one or more expressions to be evaluated by the different domain.

  • Patent number: 9338756
Abstract: Techniques for signaling power information to facilitate channel quality indicator (CQI) reporting are described. A Node B may send power information that may be used by a UE to determine a power per channelization code, POVSF. In one design, the power information includes a power offset between the power of a data channel, PHSPDSCH, and the power of a pilot channel. The Node B may determine PHSPDSCH based on the power available for the data channel, the number of available channelization codes, and a designated number of channelization codes. The UE may determine POVSF based on the power information from the Node B and the designated number of channelization codes. The UE may estimate at least one SINR of at least one transport block based on POVSF, determine CQI information for the transport block(s) based on the SINR, and send the CQI information to the Node B.

  • Patent number: 8699587
Abstract: Techniques for sending feedback information in a wireless communication system are described. In one design, precoding control indication (PCI), rank, and channel quality indication (CQI) for data transmission from a transmitter to a receiver may be determined by evaluating different hypotheses. A report may be formed based on the PCI, rank and CQI. The PCI may include a precoding matrix or vector to use for the data transmission. The CQI may include at least one CQI value for at least one transport block to send for the data transmission. The rank and CQI may be combined based on a mapping. For example, the CQI may include one CQI value and fall within a first range of values if one transport block is preferred by the receiver. The CQI may include two CQI values and fall within a second range of values if two transport blocks are preferred.
