    Abstract: A reversible polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit. The reversible PDC bit includes at least one blade, at least one front cutter disposed on a first side of the at least one blade, and at least one rear cutter disposed on a second side of the at least one blade, wherein the first side is opposite to the second side along a circumferential direction of the reversible PDC bit, wherein rotating the reversible PDC bit in a clockwise direction engages the at least one front cutter to cut into a subterranean formation, and wherein rotating the reversible PDC bit in a counter-clockwise direction engages the at least one rear cutter to cut into the subterranean formation.

The actuator assembly has a first pipe member with a segment formed of a first material. A second pipe member is coaxially aligned with the first pipe member. A plurality of bearings are positioned between the first pipe member and the second pipe member. Each of the plurality of bearings includes a second material. The first material is reactive to the second material. Certain of the plurality of bearings are changeable bearings that include a dissolvable material. The actuator assembly is operable to instruct an operation of the device by generating an instruction signal by rotating the first pipe member relative to the second pipe member and interpreting a pattern of a reaction of the segment as a bearing rotates past the segment.

    Abstract: The method for equal channel angular extrusion increases yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of a dissolvable aluminum alloy. A billet of a dissolvable aluminum alloy is wrapped with a sheet cover so as to form a wrapped billet. The wrapped billet is extruded through an equal channel angular extrusion die with an extrusion angle ranging 90-135 degrees so as to form an extruded billet. The step of extruding is at a temperature ranging 150-250 degrees C., an extrusion rate ranging 0.003-0.010 inches per second, and a back pressure ranging 200-10000 psi. The dissolvable aluminum alloy of the extruded billet has a yield strength and ultimate tensile strength 50% greater than the initial yield strength and initial ultimate tensile strength.

    Abstract: A dissolvable aluminum alloy can be used for components of a downhole tool in hydraulic fracturing operations with low salinity fluid at low temperatures, including fresh water. The dissolvable aluminum alloy can be dissolved completely and controlled at a dissolving rate compatible with hydraulic fracturing operations. The alloy comprises aluminum having grain boundaries, magnesium at 8.25-12% by weight, gallium at 2.5-4% by weight, and indium at 2-4% by weight. At least portions of magnesium, gallium, and indium are located in the grain boundaries. There are secondary phase particles, including Al—Mg Beta, Mg2Si, Mg and Al—Ga Gamma phases at the grain boundaries.

In other embodiments, a multi-sectional swellable packer for a wellbore has multiple mandrels with multiple packer elements which are interconnected by flexible joints/connections. The outer diameter of the central element can be different from that of the end elements. The swellable rubber of the central element can be different from that of the end elements. The packer increases flexibility of operation and reduces the risk of run-in-hole.
