  • Publication number: 20240390844
Abstract: The invention presents a method for predicting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) adsorption capacity via filling adsorption, in the domain of exhaust gas treatment. Utilizing two or more porous materials with concentrated pore size distributions as model adsorption materials, it identifies the critical pore size for filling adsorption under specific conditions. Filling adsorption operates via volume filling, linking adsorption capacity to density and pore volume. Conversely, non-filling adsorption relies on surface covering mechanisms, correlating adsorption capacity with specific surface area. By establishing a linear equation using pore volume and specific surface area, solved with known model material parameters, it accommodates pore size variation and pressure influence on adsorption capacity. This equation predicts VOCs adsorption capacity and isotherms based on the adsorption material's pore structure.

The FBG sensor may be configured to receive an optical signal from the light source, interact with a transmitted spectrum of the light source over a discriminating spectral domain, and generate a reflected optical signal representative of a change in a physical signal sensed by the FBG sensor. The discriminating spectral domain may be a region defined by at least one of the transmitted spectrum of the light source and a reflected spectrum of the FBG sensor. A width of the discriminating spectral domain may be based at least in part on a range of operation of the FBG sensor. In the discriminating domain region, a power of the reflected optical signal may change monotonically in response to a shift in the reflected spectrum of the FBG sensor. The photodetector may transform the reflected optical signal into an electrical signal.

  • Publication number: 20240260842
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatus, and computer-readable media for determining hemodynamic stability in a subject. In one example method, an optical signal is transmitted via at least one optical fiber in a set of one or more optical fibers partially disposed in a heart of the subject, wherein the at least one optical fiber in the set is configured to bend with the mechanical movement of the heart. A reflected portion of the optical signal is received via the at least one optical fiber, wherein changes in at least one parameter of the received reflected portion of the optical signal are indicative of the mechanical movement of the heart. A hemodynamic stability of the heart is determined based on the received reflected portion. Hemodynamic stability of the subject may further be determined based on thermal, ultrasound, and/or impedance signals measured in or near the heart.
