  • Publication number: 20120174837
Abstract: A combustor assembly in a coal burning power plant includes a combustor housing that defines a combustion zone in which pulverized coal is burned, at least one burner that introduces pulverized coal into the combustion zone, and an overfire air port that injects air into the combustor housing above the combustion zone, the overfire air port being generally not movable with respect to the combustor housing. The combustor assembly further includes a nozzle assembly associated with the overfire air port. The nozzle assembly includes a flow directing structure disposed within the overfire air port, which flow directing structure is tiltable with respect to the overfire air port to effect a change in a flow direction of the air being injected into the combustor housing through the overfire air port.

  • Patent number: 8154322
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed, such as those involving a high frequency transmitter. One such apparatus includes a pre-amplifier configured to receive an input signal via an input node; and a capacitor block electrically coupled between the pre-amplifier and an output node from which an output signal is transmitted. The capacitor block is configured to provide charge to the output node or pull charge from the output node while the output signal transitions. The apparatus further includes a switch electrically coupled between the output node and a voltage reference, wherein the switch is turned on or off at least partly in response to a signal from the pre-amplifier. This configuration effectively reduces rise and fall time of the output signal for high-frequency transmission.

  • Publication number: 20120066195
Abstract: One embodiment selects from a set of query-suggestion pairs a first query and a subset of query-suggestion pairs that each has the first query as its query; computes a Log Likelihood Ratio (LLR) value for each query-suggestion pair from the subset of query-suggestion pairs; ranks the subset of query-suggestion pairs according to their respective LLR values; removes from the subset of query-suggestion pairs all query-suggestion pairs whose LLR values are below a predetermined LLR threshold; computes a Pointwise Mutual Information (PMI) value for each remaining query suggestion pair from the subset of query-suggestion pairs; removes from the subset of query-suggestion pairs all query-suggestion pairs whose PMI values are below a predetermine PMI threshold; and constructs a ranked set of suggestions for the first query, wherein the ranked set of suggestions comprises one or more suggestions of the remaining query-suggestion pairs from the subset of query-suggestion pairs.

  • Patent number: 8023587
Abstract: A device and method for pre-distorting a base-band digital signal. The device includes an adaptive parameter calculation unit and a pre-distorter. The adaptive parameter calculation unit is adapted to calculate nonlinear filter parameters in accordance with samples of a base-band digital signal and a feedback signal of a radio frequency channel, and output a calculation result to the pre-distorter. The pre-distorter is adapted to store and update the nonlinear filter parameters, perform power statistics of the base-band digital signal, select nonlinear filter parameters corresponding to a result of the power statistics, pre-distort the base-band digital signal, and output the pre-distorted base-band digital signal. With the method, the non-linearity of a power amplifier may be improved, different non-linearity inverse models may be selected according to different input signals and power amplifier characteristics, and the efficiency of a base station transmitter may be improved.

  • Publication number: 20090297996
Abstract: A fuel injector for use in a furnace causes a primary stream of a carrier gas and fuel to be mixed with heated air, oxygen or a mixture of oxygen and CO2 or re-circulated flue gas, within the injector by a secondary stream of heated air, before the primary stream exits the injector as a fuel stream and flows into a combustion zone of the furnace. The interaction of the primary stream with the heated air of the secondary stream increases stoichiometry at the center of the fuel stream exiting the injector, so as to minimize NOx creation and maximize combustion of fuel in the furnace.
