  • Patent number: 9497495
Abstract: A venue-cast system and method for providing and receiving venue level transmissions and services, including discovery of a venue specific transmission by receiving an overhead signal from a non-venue network, extracting information for receiving the venue specific transmission from the overhead signal, and tuning to receive the venue specific transmission based on the extracted information. • Patent number: 9485718
Abstract: Various embodiments enable recovering from an out-of-service state in a wireless device. A processor may perform scans of a first acquisition database to acquire a first renewed service connection for a first subscriber identification module (SIM). The scans include first and second searches for first and second channels identified in first and second technology lists, respectively, from the first acquisition database, respectively, until either a renewed service connection is acquired or each of the first and second technology lists are exhausted. The first and second technology lists identify channels from first and second radio access technologies. A currently used channel of a second SIM acquired service is first on the first technology list. The processor may perform a full frequency scan to acquire a first renewed service connection for the first SIM in response to determining that each of the first and second technology lists were exhausted.

  • Publication number: 20150334704
Abstract: Dynamic intra-cluster coordination for TDD UL-DL reconfiguration using distributed TDD UL-DL reconfiguration techniques and/or new physical layer signaling. Cell weighting techniques may be used so that distributed TDD UL-DL reconfiguration of the cell cluster can be weighted towards cells of the cluster with higher load. Cells within a cell cluster may independently determine their preferred TDD UL-DL reconfiguration and one or more cells of the cluster may be eligible cells for determining the TDD UL-DL reconfiguration for the cluster. Special subframes may be used for transmission of TDD UL-DL reconfiguration messages from the configuring cell and transmission of ACK messages from other cells of the cluster. The TDD UL-DL reconfiguration message may be an orthogonal sequence based on a signature determined by the cell ID of the configuring cell.

  • Publication number: 20150270933
Abstract: A method, a computer program product, and an apparatus for separating a cell cluster to two or more cell clusters are provided. The cell cluster may be separated into two or more cell clusters in order to mitigate interference between cells while allowing for TDD subframe configuration flexibility. The method identifies at least one separating cell in a cell cluster, the cell cluster including at least two cells having a common TDD subframe configuration, where a coupling loss between one cell in the cell cluster and at least another cell in the cell cluster is lower than a predefined threshold. The method separates the cell cluster based on the at least one separating cell into at least a first cell cluster and a second cell cluster and sets a first TDD subframe configuration for the first cell cluster and a second TDD subframe configuration for the second cell cluster.

  • Publication number: 20150256320
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus determines an interference type between a time division duplex (TDD) configuration subframe of a serving cell and a corresponding TDD configuration subframe of a neighboring cell, and sets a transmit power for an apparatus in the serving cell based on the interference type. The apparatus in the serving cell may be a user equipment (UE), in which case the apparatus applies a set of uplink (UL) open loop power control parameters for the UE. The apparatus in the serving cell may be a base station (eNB), in which case a DL transmit power is set for the eNB. Depending on the interference type, the DL transmit power may be a fixed, full power DL transmission or an adjusted DL transmission.

  • Publication number: 20150189666
Abstract: Interference mitigation solutions are disclosed for interference experienced based on asymmetric uplink (UL)/downlink (DL) slot configuration. The aggressor/victim network entities are identified using either measurement or static/semi-static means, such that the victim network entities that may be impacted by interference from aggressor network entity transmissions are identified. Inter Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) mechanisms are extended to negotiate and address scheduling that intelligently mitigates interference that occurs in the colliding slots.

  • Publication number: 20150139102
Abstract: In High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) communications in a Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) system (called TD-HSDPA), the payload of two High-Speed Shared Information Channels (HS-SICHs) may be bundled into one HS-SICH channel by reusing the unused uplink synchronization shift (SS) for power control purposes. Thus, the HS-SICH spreading factor (SF) 16 code channel overhead may be reduced by 50%.

  • Patent number: 8934894
Abstract: A method for inter-standard network roaming is provided. Upon roaming into a visited network, an access terminal may send a location update message that includes its current mobile subscriber identity. A roaming gateway receives the update message and uses the current mobile subscriber identity to determine whether the access terminal should be assigned a new mobile subscriber identity for operation in the visited network. If the current mobile subscriber identity indicates that the access terminal is not using a preferred roaming sponsor for the visited network, then the roaming gateway generates or selects a new mobile subscriber identity associated with the preferred roaming sponsor. The new mobile subscriber identity is securely transmitted to the access terminal which uses it for communications over the visited network thereafter.

  • Publication number: 20140120948
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate determining positioning for a device that communicates with a femtocell access point. Femtocell access point location parameters can be provided to a gateway or other network component. A positioning server can request location of a femtocell access point from the corresponding gateway by specifying device subscriber information in the request. The gateway can accordingly identify a corresponding femtocell access point with which the device communicates and can obtain related location parameters for providing to the positioning server.

  • Publication number: 20140056239
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose techniques for power control for high-efficiency scheduling for Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). The basic principle of this power control for a scheduled Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH) Physical Uplink Channel (E-PUCH) is that all information for a transport block size (TBS) decision is made available at a user equipment (UE). Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communications. The method generally includes receiving, from a UE, an uplink signal, determining a reference uplink power level based on a filtered interference power of the received signal, and transmitting an indication of the reference uplink power level to the UE.
