Publication number: 20140120948Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided that facilitate determining positioning for a device that communicates with a femtocell access point. Femtocell access point location parameters can be provided to a gateway or other network component. A positioning server can request location of a femtocell access point from the corresponding gateway by specifying device subscriber information in the request. The gateway can accordingly identify a corresponding femtocell access point with which the device communicates and can obtain related location parameters for providing to the positioning server.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 5, 2011Publication date: May 1, 2014Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Chao Jin, Jiming Guo

Publication number: 20140056239Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure propose techniques for power control for high-efficiency scheduling for Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). The basic principle of this power control for a scheduled Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH) Physical Uplink Channel (E-PUCH) is that all information for a transport block size (TBS) decision is made available at a user equipment (UE). Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communications. The method generally includes receiving, from a UE, an uplink signal, determining a reference uplink power level based on a filtered interference power of the received signal, and transmitting an indication of the reference uplink power level to the UE.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2010Publication date: February 27, 2014Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jainqiang Zhang, Jiming Guo, Mingxi Fan, Bo Chen

Patent number: 8611325Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for providing venue-cast service in a wireless access network are disclosed. A local transmitter can request reservation of air link resources on the wireless access network for a venue-cast transmission. The local transmitter can receive a forward link signal with a timing reference for data transmitted on the wireless access network such as, for example, the forward link signal in an EV-DO network or a FLO-based media distribution system. Based on the timing reference, the local transmitter can transmit venue-cast information in a same frequency band as the forward link signal utilizing the reserved air link resources. Optionally, the venue-cast system can include a collocated network repeater and the local transmitter can synchronize its timing and transmit power to the forward link signal from the repeater.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2009Date of Patent: December 17, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Peter John Black, Matthew Stuart Grob, Raghuraman Krishnamoorthi, Mingxi Fan, Jiming Guo

Publication number: 20130201959Abstract: A system and method enable make-before-break handover from a source cell to a target cell in a TD-SCDMA system. According to various aspects of the present disclosure, a wireless link is established with the target cell while maintaining the call with the source cell. The communication between the mobile station and the respective source and target cells may be multiplexed utilizing time division multiplexing or frequency division multiplexing. When utilizing time division multiplexing, the allocation between the respective source and target cells may be made slot-by-slot in a subframe, or subframe-by-subframe in a radio frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2010Publication date: August 8, 2013Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jiming Guo, Mingxi Fan

Patent number: 8452011Abstract: A security system is applied to venue-cast content transmissions over a broadcast/multicast network infrastructure. The broadcast network infrastructure may be Evolution-Data Only Broadcast Multicast Services (BCMCS) that facilitates distribution of a subscription-based content delivery service. A venue-cast service can be part of the subscription-based content delivery service and has an associated service key. Upon subscribing to the content delivery service, the subscriber access terminal is given the service key. Such service key may be associated with a particular subscriber package and/or venue location. The same service key is provided to the broadcast network infrastructure that broadcasts venue-cast content. A broadcast access key is generated by the broadcast network infrastructure and used to encrypt venue-specific content to be broadcasted. Consequently, only access terminals that have received the service key (e.g.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2009Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jiming Guo, Mingxi Fan

Real-time Network Selection and Mobile Subscriber Identity Update for Inter-Standard Network Roaming
Publication number: 20100136967Abstract: A method for inter-standard network roaming is provided. Upon roaming into a visited network, an access terminal may send a location update message that includes its current mobile subscriber identity. A roaming gateway receives the update message and uses the current mobile subscriber identity to determine whether the access terminal should be assigned a new mobile subscriber identity for operation in the visited network. If the current mobile subscriber identity indicates that the access terminal is not using a preferred roaming sponsor for the visited network, then the roaming gateway generates or selects a new mobile subscriber identity associated with the preferred roaming sponsor. The new mobile subscriber identity is securely transmitted to the access terminal which uses it for communications over the visited network thereafter.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2009Publication date: June 3, 2010Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Zhimin Du, Yan Li, Jiming Guo -
