Abstract: The present invention provides articles and methods related to insulation panels made from aerogels, and specifically polyimide based aerogels. Such insulation panels have a wide variety of applications, including specifically in aerospace applications.

Abstract: A system is provided that includes a detachable mounting apparatus. The detachable mounting apparatus is configured to be secured on an aircraft. The detachable mounting apparatus includes a detection system and a warning system. The detection system can detect objects in proximity to the aircraft and generate a detection signal when an object is detected in proximity to the aircraft. The warning system can generate at least one alarm signal that is perceptible outside the aircraft.

The pocket is particularly suited for use with spike wicks, having a head and a leg, wherein the leg is dipped in a liquid, game-attracting scent and inserted in the pocket with the leg of the wick extending from the bottom of the pocket.

Abstract: The disclosure describes Structured Biological Materials (“SBM”) adapted for use in emulsion-less multiphasic processes. The SBM is a substratum-microbial matrix combination, wherein the microbial matrix houses one or more natural or genetically-engineered microorganisms capable of catalyzing or performing reactions that occur in multiphasic environments. When used in an emulsion-less system, the SBMs should be able to maintain separation of the bulk phases sufficient to maintain the emulsion-less nature of the system. The disclosure also provides methods of using the SBMs, for example in performance of multiphasic reactions, such as emulsion-less biphasic liquid/liquid reactions. This disclosure also provides multiphasic membrane reactors wherein an SBM functions as the membrane, such as emulsion-less biphasic reactors wherein an SBM functions as the biphasic membrane.

The speaker enclosure can be made by arranging an inner speaker enclosure shell within an outer speaker enclosure shell such that the port is defined therebetween.

Abstract: PFRs for running multiphasic processes are disclosed. The PFRs are single or multi-chamber devices having at least three types of regions (a liquid-contacting region, a gas-contacting region and a liquid-collection region), and a porous substrate providing fluid communication at least between the liquid-contacting and gas-contacting regions. Removal of liquid from the porous substrate, such as by collecting the liquid as it flows off the bottom of the porous substrate in the liquid-collection region or such as by evaporation of the liquid from the porous substrate in the evaporation region supports a continuous flow process. Methods of using the PFRs are also disclosed, for example methods of using the PFRs as photobioreactors for cultivating photosynthetic microorganisms, for producing fermentable sugars, for producing ethanol, for fermenting synthesis gas and producing single cell protein from natural gas.

The candidate inputs responses to a set of queries tailored to the screening entity. The responses thereto are stored in a candidate profile. An interactive audio session is initiated and an interactive information gathering process with the candidate occurs using both the audio session and the computer. Prompts are generated via the audio session and web page. Verbal responses are recorded and confidence scores are automatically calculated. The verbal responses are stored with the candidate profile for later access and analysis by the screening entity. The stored information is analyzed by the screening entity to make quality and criteria judgments about the candidate to determine a hiring potential of the candidate.

A single punch of the material creates a hole in the material and also forms the periphery of the hole.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for counting seedlings. A seedling moves through a seedling counter, which comprises a spectral energy emitter and a spectral energy detector. When the spectral energy detector detects a sufficient attenuation of the spectral energy for a sufficient amount of time, the spectral energy detector indicates the presence of a seedling. The spectral energy detector detects irregularities in the received spectral energy to indicate faults in the apparatus. In one embodiment, the seedling counter is adapted to use X-ray energy.

Abstract: There is provided a method for accessing at least one digital file from a collection comprising more than one digital file in an electronic device, including: generating one index comprising of information entries obtained from each of the more than one digital file in the collection, with each digital file in the collection information being linked to at least one information entry; receiving a speaker independent speech input in at least one language during a speech reception mode; determining a language of the speech input; and setting the speech reception mode to the language of the speech input; comparing the speech input received during the speech reception mode with the entries in the index. The file may advantageously be accessed when the speech input coincides with at least one of the information entries in the index. The digital files may be stored in the electronic device, any device functionally connected to the electronic device or a combination of the aforementioned.
