  • Patent number: 7966265
Abstract: A method for screening applicants includes remotely accessing a screening entity's web page by a potential candidate. The candidate is asked, via the pre-screening web page, to input responses to a set of queries tailored to the screening entity and the candidate's responses to the queries are stored. A phone call is automatically initiated to the candidate in response to at least one of the candidate's responses. An interactive information gathering process is started with the candidate using both the telephone and the computer. In the process, audio prompts to the candidate are generated via the telephone and the candidate's verbal responses are recorded via the telephone. A profile of the candidate is stored in a database including the verbal responses from the candidate for later access and analysis by the screening entity. The recorded responses are analyzed by the screening entity to make quality judgments about the candidate.

  • Patent number: 7941723
Abstract: A clock generator is disclosed that includes an array of MEMS resonators and a test circuit. The test circuit is operable at start-up to operate one or more of the MEMS resonators to generate test output and analyze the test output to determine whether the operated MEMS resonators meet test criteria. A MEMS resonator is selected that meets the test criteria and its output is used to generate an output clock signal. In addition, the test circuit is operable to analyze the output of the selected MEMS resonator and select a replacement MEMS resonator when the output of the selected MEMS resonator no longer meets the test criteria. The replacement MEMS resonator is then operated and its output is coupled to the output of the clock generator. Thereby, failing and potentially failing MEMS resonators are automatically replaced during operation of the clock generator in its end-use application.

  • Publication number: 20100246762
Abstract: A method and apparatus for counting seedlings. A seedling moves through a seedling counter, which comprises a spectral energy emitter and a spectral energy detector. When the spectral energy detector detects a sufficient attenuation of the spectral energy for a sufficient amount of time, the spectral energy detector indicates the presence of a seedling. The spectral energy detector detects irregularities in the received spectral energy to indicate faults in the apparatus. In one embodiment, the seedling counter is adapted to use X-ray energy.

  • Patent number: 7698790
Abstract: A reusable slider stop member has a solid body shaped to fit over a tooth element in a slide fastener assembly. The solid body has a central through channel defined by a pair of parallel prongs which fit over a tooth element. Each prong has an internal shoulder that engages a portion of the tooth element to retain the stop in place. The stop may be removed without damaging the stop or the tooth element, thus permitting easy repair of slide fastener assembly components. The stop is installed by aligning the channel at a right angle to the axis of the array of tooth elements, pressing the stop partially onto the tooth element, twisting the stop into alignment with the array and pressing the stop fully onto the tooth element to engage the internal shoulder of the stop with the tooth element.

  • Publication number: 20080276039
Abstract: A method and system for emulating content-addressable memory (CAM) primitives (e.g., a read operation) is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a method is provided for emulating a read operation on a plurality of CAM elements utilizing a read input including match input data and a CAM element selection index. In the described method, match reference data is distributed among a plurality of random-access memory (RAM) elements by storing match reference data corresponding to each of the plurality of CAM elements within a first RAM element of the plurality. Thereafter, a first record is identified within the first RAM element utilizing a first portion of the match input data and the CAM element selection index. A read operation result is then generated utilizing the first record.

  • Publication number: 20080042865
Abstract: A dock monitoring device that provides a warning to dock workers and a lift truck operator that a hazardous condition exists if the distance from a parked load transport vehicle to the rear of a loading dock increases outside a preset “safe zone” distance, which is the maximum distance, with allowance for a safety margin, that can be spanned by a dock plate or ramp or “dock leveler” to the bed floor of the load transport vehicle. The invention uses a non-contact distance measuring sensor such as an infrared optical triangulation measuring sensor. An alarm will sound if the distance becomes greater than a preset “safe zone” distance. Significant events are logged, and a picture of the load may be taken.
