  • Patent number: 5462432
Abstract: An ignition safety device in a gas lighter to reliably prevent ignition of the lighter when a safety button is in a locked position, and to allow ignition of the gas lighter when the safety button is moved from the first locked position to a second unlocked position. A projection of the safety button has an end surface that coacts with an end surface of a projection provided in the upper part of the gas lighter when the safety button is in its locked position. The projection in the upper part of the gas lighter is positioned so as to ensure that the two end surfaces securely contact each other. When the safety button is moved to the unlocked position, the projection of the safety button is not aligned with the projection in the upper part of the lighter and therefore, the ignition button of the lighter can be depressed to ignite the lighter.

  • Patent number: 5451159
Abstract: A safety device in a gas lighter to prevent release of gas fuel stored in the lighter when a safety button is in a locked position to thereby prevent ignition of the lighter, and to allow release of gas fuel when the safety button is moved from the locked position to an unlocked position. An indentation in the safety button coacts with an end portion of a housing of the lighter to releasably retain the safety button in the unlocked position when moved there by a user's finger. Projections provided on the underside of a gas-release button guide the safety button's movement between the locked and unlocked positions and releasably retain the safety button in the unlocked position. The safety button is moved from the unlocked to the locked position when the gas-release button is released after ignition of the lighter.

  • Patent number: 4995079
Abstract: A canal+ decoder switching circuit for video cassette recorders which can enable a canal+ decoder for receiving a canal+ broadcast to be automatically switched to a VCR or to a TV when VCR mode or TV mode is selected respectively. The circuit includes a switch control circuit proving four kinds of control signals by combining a control signal output from the canal+ decoder, a canal+ channel designation signal and a VCR/TV mode switching signal provided by a microcomputer. The circuit also includes four kinds of switches and the states of their contacts are determined by the control signals provided by the switch control circuit respectively so that the canal+ broadcast can be televiewed not only in VCR mode but in TV mode without the necessity of manual connection of the canal+ decoder.

  • Patent number: 4428110
Abstract: A method of making a series connected array of amorphous silicon solar cells on a single substrate includes forming a plurality of spaced conductive lower electrodes on the substrate. Metal electrode stripes are applied on each of the lower electrodes. A layer of amorphous silicon is formed over the lower electrodes, metal electrode stripes and any exposed portions of the surface of the substrate. A plurality of spaced upper conductive electrodes are formed over the amorphous silicon layer with each of the upper electrodes having a portion overlying the electrode stripe on the lower electrode of an adjacent cell. The array is heated to spike the electrode stripes completely through the amorphous silicon layer to contact the overlying upper electrode and thereby electrically connect the cells in series.

  • Patent number: 4181794
Abstract: A process for preparing olefin polymer fibrils is disclosed. A high molecular weight ethylene polymer is dissolved in methylene chloride in a first zone that is heated to develop a superatmospheric pressure. The polymer solution is fed to a second zone which is maintained at atmospheric pressure. The polymer solution is discharged into vigorously stirred isopropanol to form fibrils. Polymer solvent is distilled from the resulting slurry. The fibrils are refined in the isopropanol slurry. The polymer solvent and the isopropanol are recycled to the process.
