Abstract: The present invention relates to component identification method using an instance metadata identifier with a contents reference identifier (CRID) and a targeting method using the same. The present invention is a method for identifying components having identical contents and different bit expressions by assigning an identical CRID to each of the components, assigning different instance metadata identifiers to each of the components and using the instance metadata identifiers with the CRID. Also, the present invention is a method for, identifying components having identical contents, identical bit expressions and different locations by assigning different instance metadata identifiers to each of the components and listing the instance metadata identifiers 1, in a package metadata having corresponding condition of an intended targeting. Accordingly, the present invention provides effective targeting by automatically matching characteristics described in a package to a usage environment.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a relation model, and more particular to an enhanced model of relation with a quantitative representation in a TV-Anytime service, a TV-Anytime service system employing the same and a TV-Anytime service method thereof. The TV-Anytime service system employing an enhanced quantitative representation uses a temporal relation metadata having a quantitative representation for describing a time order of consuming components and a spatial relation metadata for describing a related location of a user interface.

Abstract: Provided are package metadata and a targeting and synchronization service providing system using the same. The package metadata for a targeting and synchronization service that can provide a variety of contents formed of components to diverse terminals in the form of a package in a targeting and synchronization service providing system, the package metadata which include: package description information for selecting a package desired by a user and describing general information on an individual pack-age to check whether the selected package can be acquired; and container metadata for describing information on a container which is a combination of diverse packages and formed of a set of items, each of which is a combination of components.

Abstract: Disclosed is a program recommendation system and method which receive PSIP/SI and programming information on digital broadcasting and provide a program recommendation service to viewers in an EPG application. The system receives personal information in order to set information of each viewer, confirms the received PSIP/SI information, and generates watching information through a viewer watching TV, in a predetermined format. In addition, the system inputs the generated watching information to a database, converts watching information of each viewer which is stored in the database input unit into divided input patterns using a fuzzy membership function to analyze the input patterns, and extracts information on a program with a high degree of preference from the analyzed result. Furthermore the system outputs preference program information of each viewer on a screen in order to recommend a program.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for injecting synchronized stream data into a Motion Picture Experts Group 2 (MPEG-2) video/audio transport stream for a digital data broadcasting service. The apparatus and method for injecting synchronized stream data calculate the injection time point of data access unit (DAU) that forms the synchronized stream data and injects DAU into the MPEG-2 video/audio transport stream based on the calculated injection time point so that the synchronized stream data could be presented smoothly in a receiver. The synchronized stream data injecting apparatus includes: an additional data storing unit, a synchronized stream data selection/establishment unit, a synchronized stream data analyzing unit, a transport stream analyzing unit, a synchronized stream data injection/management unit, a presentation time stamp re-stamping unit and a multiplexing unit.

Abstract: A metadata transmitter synchronized with multimedia contents comprises: a multimedia contents authoring unit for generating and editing multimedia contents; a multimedia contents format converter for compressing the multimedia contents, converting them into a transmission format, and outputting them; a metadata authoring unit for generating and editing metadata for describing the multimedia contents, the metadata including transmission types and transmission information; a metadata format converter for converting the metadata into binary codes, converting the converted metadata into a synchronization format for synchronization with the multimedia contents and a transmission format, and outputting them; and a multiplexer for multiplexing the multimedia contents format and the metadata format respectively output from the multimedia contents format converter and the metadata format converter into a stream, and outputting it.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transmitting MPEG-4 data synchronized to MPEG-2 data is disclosed. The apparatus for transmitting MPEG-4 data synchronized to MPEG-2 data includes: an object separation unit for extracting MPEG-4 object data from MP4 data, separating meta information from the object data, and generating program information and synchronization information; a conversion unit for converting the MPEG-4 object data to MPEG-4 packets of which data structure is the same as that of MPEG-2 data, based on the program information and synchronization information; and a multiplexing unit for multiplexing the MPEG-4 packets with the MPEG-2 data.
