Abstract: A connector that is capable of reducing defects in display apparatuses is presented. The connector includes a body, a plurality of terminals and a cover. The body has a base and a sidewall. The terminals are disposed on the body and arranged to make an electrical connection with the electrical circuit when the electrical circuit is received by the body. The cover includes a rotation axis, a fixing portion extending from the rotation axis such that the fixing portion is substantially parallel to the base of the body, and a protrusion portion protruding from the rotation axis substantially perpendicularly to the base of the body. The connector prevents electrical discharge from the flexible printed circuit board to the electrical circuit and prevents physical damage to the electrical circuit. Therefore, defect rate decreases and a yield of a display apparatus increases.

  • Publication number: 20070157487
Abstract: An LCD includes a liquid crystal panel, a backlight unit, a rear cover, a mold frame and a front cover that slides down over and couples with the rear cover to form a space within which the liquid crystal panel, mold frame and backlight unit are protectively enclosed. The front cover has a lateral part with a first coupling part and a feature for receiving a lateral projection on the mold frame. The rear cover has a mold frame lateral wall with a second coupling part adapted to slidably engage and couple with the first coupling part when the front cover is slid down on the rear cover, and the mold frame has a lateral projection that is received in the front cover receiving feature when the front and rear covers are fully assembled together. The foregoing features enable deformation of the lower cover to be minimized during assembly of the device.

  • Publication number: 20060203519
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a light source, a light guide plate, and a receiving container having a combination guide part. The coupling guide part is inwardly protruded with respect to the sidewalls of the receiving container. The coupling guide part corresponds with a guide recess on the light guide plate to guide the light guide plate to a proper position. The coupling guide part may also include a screw thread to couple the receiving container with an external case. Therefore, the receiving container may be easily coupled with the external case and the light guide plate may be guided to a proper position via the combination guide part to thereby simplify a manufacturing process of the backlight assembly and reduce its size.

  • Publication number: 20060139962
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a lamp assembly, a receiving container and a panel guiding frame. The lamp assembly includes a light source to generate light and a lamp cover to reflect the light. The receiving container includes a bottom and a sidewall. The sidewall includes a first sidewall portion facing the lamp cover and separated from the lamp cover by a first interval and a second sidewall portion separated from the lamp cover by a second interval narrower than the first interval. The panel guiding frame includes a first frame portion facing an end of the bottom and a second frame portion extended from the first frame portion along a side face of the second sidewall and having an opening corresponding to the first sidewall portion. Thus, the backlight assembly may have a reduced non-effective display area.

  • Publication number: 20060028836
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a light guide plate (LGP) having a stepped portion formed at a corner of the LGP, an optical sheet disposed over the LGP and a receiving container receiving the LGP and the optical sheet. The receiving container includes a bottom plate, first through fourth sidewalls and a first LGP fixing portion. The second sidewall is adjacent to the first sidewall. The third sidewall faces the first sidewall. The fourth sidewall faces the second sidewall. The first through fourth sidewalls are extended upwardly from edge portions of the bottom plate. The first LGP fixing portion is formed at the first sidewall such that the LGP fixing portion corresponds to the stepped portion of the LGP. Therefore, a display device is easily assembled. Furthermore, a defilement that may occur during an assembling process may be reduced to enhance productivity.
