  • Patent number: 9204272
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for serving binary short message service (SMS) content to multiple mobile devices that use different wireless networks to receive data. One implementation involves a method for serving binary SMS content to the subscribers of a telematics service provider (TSP) on multiple mobile devices that are provisioned with multiple wireless networks. The method involves receiving a binary SMS at a receiving module of an external short message entity (ESME), translating the SMS into a protocol data unit (PDU), and routing the PDU to an SMS gateway producing application. The PDU is directed to a virtual serial port, which is created by the gateway producing application and mapped to a physical serial port at a terminal server. The PDU is sent from the terminal server to a data modem that is provisioned with a wireless carrier, and the data modem is instructed to transmit the SMS to a mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8948727
Abstract: A method and system for providing wireless mobile device information from a vehicle to a call center. The method includes the steps of (a) detecting the presence of a personal mobile device at the vehicle, (b) receiving at a vehicle interface module a mobile device identifier from the personal mobile device, and (c) sending the mobile device identifier from the vehicle interface module to a call center via the mobile device. The mobile device identifier received at the call center can be used for various purposes such as to provide a callback number in the event of a dropped call, or to validate that services are authorized for the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20140341236
Abstract: Blind polarization demultiplexing algorithms based on complex independent component analysis (ICA) by negentropy maximization for quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) coherent optical systems are disclosed. The polarization demultiplexing is achieved by maximizing the signal's non-Gaussianity measured by the information theoretic quantity of negentropy. An adaptive gradient optimization algorithm and a Quasi-Newton algorithm with accelerated convergence are employed to maximize the negentropy. Certain approximate nonlinear functions can be substitutes for the negentropy which is strictly derived from the probability density function (PDF) of the received noisy QAM signal with phase noise, and this reduces the computational complexity.

  • Patent number: 8682364
Abstract: A system and method for sending binary data via a short message service (SMS) over a wireless communication system. The method provides the capability to send and receive binary data to a vehicle telematics unit using a text SMS message. The binary data is converted to encoded text according to an encoding scheme supported by a wireless communication system. Then, the encoded text is sent as an SMS message over the wireless communication system. Once, the SMS message containing the encoded text is received at its destination, it is converted back to binary data.

  • Publication number: 20090181397
Abstract: The present disclosure encompasses methods of diagnosing the presence of a cancer, and particularly a cancer of prostate or breast tissue, in a human subject, predicting the outcome or severity of the disease and methods of reversing the prostate cell transformation based on the presence or absence in the human subject of a dinucleotide (TT) deletion in the gene encoding the U50 snoRNA. Provided, therefore, are methods of identifying a genetic marker of a human subject indicating a cancerous tissue in the human subject, embodiments of the methods comprising: determining from an isolated nucleic acid sample the genotype of the human subject with respect to a locus encoding a snoRNA U50, where a mutation within the nucleotide sequence encoding a snoRNA U50, when compared with a wild-type nucleotide sequence encoding a snoRNA U50, identifies in the human subject a genetic marker associated with a cancer in the human subject.

  • Publication number: 20080085046
Abstract: A detailed identification method for articles has an image-taking step and a comparison step. The image-taking step includes acts of using a portable identification device having a close-up lens and a screen to take a detailed image of an undistinguishable article and displaying the detailed image on the screen with an enlarged size. The comparison step includes acts of recalling a detailed image of a legal article from a database and displaying the detailed image on the screen of the portable identification device with an enlarged size. The two detailed images are displayed on the same screen so a user can clearly compare the detailed images to judge whether the undistinguishable article is a fake. The detailed identification method for articles has mobility and can be conveniently and extensively used.

  • Patent number: 7065369
Abstract: The invention discloses a method of locating and measuring a mobile station, which relates with the radio locating technique in mobile communication field. Comparing with the conventional radio locating technique, the method improves the first path determination method of a neighbor base station downlink signal as follows: with geometrical relationship such as the distance between a MS to the reference base station and the distance between a neighbor base station to the reference base station, an effective range of the downlink signal first path of the neighbor base station can be calculated; the effective range is an effective search window that is shorter than the original large search window, and the first path determination of the neighbor base station downlink signal is made within the effective search window. The invention raises the first path determination accuracy of a neighbor base station downlink signal, so the mobile station locating accuracy is raised too.
