  • Publication number: 20200336258
Abstract: Packet recovery mechanisms for wireless networks, which improve end-to-end (e2e) reliability, are provided. First embodiments include packet retransmission between a receiver and a transmitter, wherein, if the transmitter cannot find a lost packet in its transmission buffer, the transmitter sends a First Sequence Number (FSN) report to the receiver to notify the receiver of a sequence number (SN) of an oldest (acknowledged) packet in the buffer. In response, the receiver does not report lost packets whose SN is older than the FSN. Second embodiments involve using a network coding algorithm to recover lost packets, wherein the transmitter sends a control message to the receiver that includes a coded packet to be recovered and information for decoding the coded packet. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 10813086
Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) point-to-point communications link between an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network node B (eNB) and a user equipment device (or simply UE) is identified by UE/eNB media access control (MAC) identifiers on a per UE or per data radio bearer (DRB) basis for offloading cellular data from a long term evolution (LTE) link to the WLAN point-to-point communications link. A wireless local area network tunneling protocol (WLTP) includes packet formats and network protocol stack arrangements to support functions facilitated by the WLAN point-to-point communications link, such as, for example, identification of control and data traffic messages, DRB identification for WLTP packets, quality of service (QoS) delay and packet loss measurement, support of bearer splitting, and support of a general framework for offloading cellular traffic at different depths of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network protocol stack.

  • Publication number: 20200305218
Abstract: Embodiments of LWTP (long term evolution (LTE)/wireless local area network (WLAN) radio level integration Protocol) enhancements for reliable data radio bearer (DRB) switching are disclosed. A user equipment (UE) decodes a radio resource control (RRC) connection reconfiguration message, received from an evolved NodeB (eNB), the RRC connection reconfiguration message indicting switching DRBs from a first wireless transmission mode to second wireless transmission mode, and the RRC connection reconfiguration message including an uplink (UL) status report indicating a first missing UL sequence number, the UL status report being a UL LWIP status report. The UE causes reconfiguration of the UE according to the RRC connection reconfiguration message. The UE encodes, for transmission to the eNB, a RRC connection reconfiguration complete message. The UE encodes, for retransmission over the second wireless transmission mode, lost service data unit(s) (SDU) based on the UL status report.

  • Patent number: 10777029
Abstract: A first user associated with a structure (e.g., a home, a building, etc.) may authorize a second user to access the structure when the first user is not present. The second user may request to access the structure via a text message that includes an access code that was previously provided. The second user may be verified/authenticated based on the telephone number in which the text message was received, the access code, and/or an access schedule that indicates when the second user is authorized to access the structure. The second user may send a second text message indicating a desire to lock/unlock a structure entrance (e.g., a door) to the structure that contains a smart lock. Upon receiving the second text message, a service provider sends an instruction to the smart lock, causing the structure entrance to become locked/unlocked, and allowing the second user to access or secure the structure.

  • Publication number: 20200246493
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of preparing a drug-iodinated oil dispersion by high-pressure dissolution. In the invention, drug molecules are dissolved in and thoroughly mixed with iodinated oil under high pressure and rapid stirring. After the depressurization, the drug molecules are dispersed in the iodinated oil to prepare a uniformly-mixed drug-iodinated oil dispersion. The drug-iodinated oil dispersion prepared herein, compared to the drug-iodinated oil suspension and emulsion, has advantages of controllable morphology, long-term stability and slow drug-releasing rate, moreover, the drug molecules do not negatively affect the iodinated oil in physicochemical properties such as viscosity. In the liver cancer treatment, the prepared drug-iodinated oil dispersion is firstly injected through the hepatic arteries to perform the embolization, and the drug molecules are slowly released for a sustained treatment. The invention provides a good reference for the therapy combined with iodinated oil embolization.

  • Patent number: 10716114
Abstract: Technology described herein provides systems and technologies that help avoid waste of wireless network resources due to frequent losses of wireless connectivity with energy-harvesting devices (EHDs). An energy-harvesting-indicator communication can be sent from a wireless device to a cellular base station to inform the cellular base station that the wireless device is an EHD. The cellular base station can preserve context information and/or DL data pertaining to a wireless connection with the EHD when a wireless connection is lost due to a temporarily low level of available energy at the EHD. The context information and/or DL data can be preserved by the cellular base station until the period of time elapsed exceeds a threshold time value. Upon receiving a connection-resumption communication from the EHD, the cellular base station can use preserved context information to restore the wireless connection and proceed to send preserved DL data to the EHD.

  • Publication number: 20200221332
Abstract: System and techniques for uplink congestion mitigation are described herein. A packet acknowledgement (ACK) rate may be measured in a transmission queue to detect when the ACK rate exceeds a threshold. In response to the ACK rate exceeding the threshold, ACKs may be removed from the transmission queue in accordance with a time-based uplink reduction function. ACKs that remain in the transmission queue after ACKs are removed in accordance with the time-based uplink reduction function may then be transmitted.

  • Patent number: 10698718
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes a processing circuit and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processing circuit that causes the processing circuit to receive a congestion notification message from a first virtual switch of a first server indicating that a first virtual machine (VM) hosted by the first server is overloaded. The logic also causes the processing circuit to advertise a congestion status of the first VM in a congestion status message to one or more virtual switches in a network in response to receiving the congestion notification message. Moreover, the logic causes the processing circuit to cause all virtual switches in the network except for the first virtual switch to stop sending traffic destined for the first VM while the first VM is overloaded without restricting sending traffic that is destined for other VMs hosted by the first server.
