  • Publication number: 20190213502
Abstract: A computer accesses a machine learning model and multiple samples, each classified with a separate original class of multiple classes within training data used to train the machine learning model to identify each of the classes. The computer generates multiple synthetic samples, each comprising a sample distorted to induce the machine learning model to misclassify the sample to a different class from the original class. The computer creates a synthetic sample signature, for use in verifying the identity of the machine learning model at runtime, from the synthetic samples and a matrix of returned class labels each identifying one of the classes, determined from actual classifications of each the synthetic samples in response to running the synthetic samples on the machine learning model.

  • Publication number: 20190163812
Abstract: A method is provided that includes generating answer-passage pairs, each associated with a respective one of multiple feature vectors. The method includes, for each answer in the pairs, merging the feature vectors associated with any of the pairs that include the answer to obtain a merged answer vector. The method includes, for each passage in the pairs, (i) merging the feature vectors associated with any of the pairs that includes the passage to obtain a merged passage vector, (ii) merging the feature vectors from the merged answer vector for each answer that is associated with the passage via at least one of the pairs to obtain a merged passage-answer vector, and (iii) concatenating the merged passage vector and the merged passage-answer vector to obtain a concatenated passage vector. The method includes ranking the concatenated passage vector for each passage to obtain a ranked list of passages with associated confidence scores.

  • Patent number: 10297393
Abstract: A capacitor assembly for use in ultrahigh voltage environments is provided. To help achieve good performance at such high voltages, a variety of aspects of the assembly are controlled in the present invention, including the number of capacitor elements, the manner in which the capacitor elements are arranged and incorporated into the assembly, and the manner in which the capacitor elements are formed. For example, the capacitor assembly contains an anode termination to which the anode lead of a first capacitor element is electrically connected and a cathode termination to which the cathode of a second capacitor element is electrically connected. To help improve the breakdown voltage properties of the assembly, the capacitor elements are electrically connected in series such that the anode lead of the second capacitor element is also electrically connected to the cathode of the first capacitor element via a conductive member.

  • Publication number: 20190006115
Abstract: A module of capacitor assemblies is provided. To increase the capacitance and efficiency of the module, capacitor assemblies may be stacked. A variety of aspects of the module are controlled in the present invention, including the number of capacitor assemblies, the manner in which the capacitor assemblies are arranged and incorporated into the module, and the manner in which the capacitor assemblies are formed. For example, the anode terminations of each capacitor assembly are electrically connected and the cathode terminations of each capacitor assembly are electrically connected. The capacitance and efficiency of the module can be improved while maintaining the footprint of a single capacitor assembly.

  • Patent number: 10014108
Abstract: A capacitor assembly configured to effectively dissipate heat when exposed to a high ripple current is provided. The assembly includes a plurality of capacitor elements, each including an anode body and lead, a dielectric layer overlying the anode body, and a solid electrolyte. Each capacitor element is defined by upper and lower major surfaces, first opposing minor surfaces, and second opposing minor surfaces. The major surfaces each have a surface area greater than that of each of the minor opposing surfaces. A hermetically sealed housing having a length, width, and height defines an interior cavity within which the plurality of capacitor elements are positioned. The ratio of the length to the height ranges from about 2 to about 80. Further, the lower major face of each capacitor element faces a lower wall of the housing, where the lower wall is defined by the housing's length and width.

  • Publication number: 20180137985
Abstract: A capacitor element for use in high voltage environments is provided. More particularly, the capacitor element contains an anode that includes a solid electrolyte that overlies an anode. The anode includes a sintered porous pellet and a dielectric layer formed on a surface of the pellet and within its pores. The present inventors have discovered that the ability to achieve such high voltages can be achieved through the use of a dielectric having a reduced degree of crystallinity.

  • Patent number: 9942225
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for authentication and identification of a user by use of an electroencephalographic (EEG) signal. For example, a method for authenticating a user includes the following steps. At least one electroencephalographic response is obtained from a user in accordance with perceptory stimuli presented to the user. The user is authenticated based on the obtained electroencephalographic response. The authenticating step may be based on detection of an event-related potential in the obtained electroencephalographic response. The event-related potential may be a P300 event-related potential. The method may also include the step of enrolling the user prior to authenticating the user. The enrolling step may include a supervised enrollment procedure or an unsupervised enrollment procedure.

  • Patent number: 9916935
Abstract: A solid electrolytic capacitor that contains a capacitor element including an anode body, a dielectric layer, and solid electrolyte is provided. The capacitor element also includes an anode lead (e.g., wire, tape, etc.) that is electrically connected to the anode body. A first portion of the anode lead is embedded within the anode body, while a second portion of the anode lead extends from the anode body in a longitudinal direction. Contrary to conventional capacitors in which the exposed portion of the anode lead is supported by a complex and bulky lead frame assembly, there is no lead frame present in the capacitor of the present disclosure. Thus, the volumetric efficiency of the finished capacitor can be increased. An assembly containing a matrix of multiple solid electrolytic capacitor elements is also provided, as is a method for forming a matrix that comprises multiple solid electrolytic capacitor elements.

  • Patent number: 9776281
Abstract: A capacitor containing a solid electrolytic capacitor element including a sintered porous anode body and a relatively large diameter anode lead wire is provided. The lead wire is electrically connected to the anode body for connection to an anode termination. Further, the lead wire has a diameter that is at least about 10% of the height of the porous anode body to improve the points of contact between the anode body and wire to reduce ESR. A portion of the lead wire extends from a surface of the anode body in a longitudinal direction. At least one notch can be formed in the portion of the lead wire that extends from the anode body. The notch can be formed via a laser or by cutting, punching, or sawing and can serve as the point of electrical connection between the anode termination and the lead wire.

  • Patent number: 9665562
Abstract: According to an aspect, a first word in a first language and a second word in a second language in a bilingual corpus are stemmed. A probability for aligning the first stem and the second stem and a distance metric between the normalized first stem and the normalized second stem are calculated. The first word and the second word are identified as a cognate pair when the probability and the distance metric meet a threshold criterion and stored as a cognate pair in a set of cognates. A candidate sentence in the second language is retrieved from a corpus. The candidate sentence is filtered by the active vocabulary of a user in the second language and the set of cognates. A sentence quality score is calculated for the candidate sentence; and the candidate sentence is ranked for presentation to the user based on the sentence quality scorer.
