  • Patent number: 5403184
Abstract: An exothermic apparatus uses heat generated by the combustion of gas fuel or liquid fuel. The exothermic apparatus comprises a mixing section in which fuel gas and air are mixed with each other; and a casing disposed downstream of the mixing section and accommodating a combustion chamber. A fin provided in the combustion chamber is substantially parallel with the flow direction of mixed gas. A catalyst layer is in close contact with an inner surface of the combustion chamber and an outer surface of the fin. In this manner, fuel gas is efficiently brought in contact with the surface of the catalyst layer and the temperature of the catalyst is prevented from fluctuating even though heating quantity in an exothermic section changes. Thus, catalytic combustion can be reliably accomplished in the compact combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 5355789
Abstract: A refuse compression apparatus for reducing the volume of a thermal elastic refuse includes a telescopic refuse container which is covered by a bag and is housed in a cylindrical housing and suspended on the top of the cylindrical housing. A top cover box is coupled with the telescopic refuse container and the cylindrical housing so that the bag divides the inner space of the cylindrical housing into a free space inside the bag and an airtight space outside the bag. An air pump provided to connect the airtight space and the outside of the cylindrical housing operates to pressurize the airtight space and cause the bag to press the telescopic refuse container upwardly. Thus, the refuse placed in the telescopic refuse container is pressed against the lower surface of the top cover box and is compressed.

  • Patent number: 5335425
Abstract: In a dry-processing apparatus, a heat insulating container is interposed between an inner container for accommodating objects to be dried and a condensing outer container which is cooled by a fan. The inner container is made of a microwave transmittable material having excellent heat resistance. The adopted heat insulating container is made of a microwave reflecting material. Microwaves are generated by a microwave oscillator to heat the objects to generate vapor from the objects. The generated vapor contacts the cooled condensing outer container so as to be condensed into water. A temperature sensor is provided at the upper portion of the condensing outer container so as to detect the temperature of the generated vapor to thereby control the heating and drying operation.

  • Patent number: 5269596
Abstract: A traction control method for a vehicle according to the present invention for generating braking forces in the brake devices for driving wheels when excessive slipping has occurred in the drive wheels involves an independent control mode for independently controlling respective braking forces of the plurality of drive-wheel brake devices and a collective control mode for collectively controlling the braking forces. These two control modes are interchangeable with each other. This enables traction control which can insure both reliable driving force and high stability.

  • Patent number: 5169213
Abstract: A method for traction control of a vehicle, includes detecting a slipping tendency of a drive wheel in a driven state, and controlling the braking force of a drive wheel brake device in an increasing and decreasing manner in accordance with the degree of the detected slipping tendency, wherein a rapid increase mode of rapidly increasing the braking force of the drive wheel brake device and a slow increase mode of slowly increasing the braking force can be switched from one to the other, so that at an initial stage in increasing the braking force of the drive wheel brake device on the basis of the decision that the drive wheel is in an excessive slipping tendency, the braking force is increased in the rapid increase mode.

  • Patent number: 4997939
Abstract: A process for preparing adenine by reacting an arylazomalononitrile with formic acid or its derivatives in the presence of ammonia and then subjecting the intermediate pyrimidine derivative to a reaction under catalytic reduction condition. Adenine can be prepared in high purity and high yields without isolating the intermediate pyrimidine derivative, when ammonia is removed before conducting the reaction under catalytic reduction condition. Also, the preparation of adenine in high purity and high yields can be more surely attained, when the arylazomalononitrile prepared under a specific condition is employed as a starting material or when Raney nickel is employed as a reduction catalyst in combination with active carbon. The produced adenine is effectively purified by separation of insoluble materials from an aqueous hot solution of adenine adjusted to pH 7.5 to 9.0 and formation of a mineral acid salt of adenine followed by decoloration by heating in the presence of active carbon.

  • Patent number: 4937411
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic incinerating apparatus for incinerating organic matter such as garbage having a high rate of water content. This apparatus is composed of a primary combustion chamber (4) into which garbage to be burned is put and a secondary combustion chamber (18) in which decomposition gas of garbage (2) is burned; and the garbage (2) is decomposed or carbonized by microwave in the primary combustion chamber (4), and the decomposition gas is burned by an igniting apparatus in the secondary combustion chamber (18) where no microwave is irradiated. This constitution is characterized in that garbage is dried by microwave to become a good quality fuel, and is thereafter decomposed and burned perfectly, and therefore the exhaust gas is clean and the garbage can be burned perfectly to ashes at high temperatures, so that the treatment is extremely sanitary.

  • Patent number: 4754611
Abstract: A controlled atmosphere storage system which is so arranged that a refrigerator and a carbon dioxide generator are connected to each other, and a purifying catalyst, an air preheater, a cooler, a circulating blower and a scrubber are disposed at the downstream side in that order, with the scrubber and the refrigerator being connected, whereby time required for stabilization of combustion may be reduced as compared with conventional systems, and combustion under a low oxygen concentration can be maintained, while flow-out of controlled atmosphere gas outside the refrigerator or entry of atmosphere into the refrigerator can be prevented. Moreover, by forming the carbon dioxide generator in a double wall construction to fill a space with air containing carbon dioxide, heat insulating property is improved for facilitation of combustion under a lower oxygen concentration than in the conventional systems.

  • Patent number: 4531677
Abstract: An atomizer for atomizing liquid, having a disc clamped between two plate members, the disc being provided with a plurality of radial slits which, in combination with the flat surfaces of peripheral regions of the plate members, constitute liquid atomizing nozzle ports having a tetragonal cross-section. This arrangement permits an easy formation of a plurality of nozzle ports and remarkably suppresses the tendency of clogging of the nozzle ports by foreign matter. In addition, it is possible to form precisely fine nozzle ports of a diameter which could never be attained by the conventional process. The tetragonal cross-section of the nozzle ports provide peculiar jetting characteristics for attaining good atomization of the liquid.
