  • Publication number: 20190392122
Abstract: A machine trains an artificial intelligence engine to facilitate authentication of a request to verify a user. The machine accesses a reference set of obfuscated geolocations generated from actual geolocations from which a device submitted requests to verify the user. The machine groups the obfuscated geolocations into geographical clusters based on a predetermined cluster radius value and calculates a corresponding representative geolocation for each geographical cluster and a corresponding variance distance from the representative geolocation for each geographical cluster. The machine then generates a reference location score based on the representative geolocations of the geographical clusters and on the variance distances of the geographical clusters. The machine trains an artificial intelligence engine to output that reference location score in response to the reference set being input thereto. The trained artificial intelligence engine may then be provided to one or more devices.

  • Patent number: 9860200
Abstract: A method implemented at least in part on a head-mountable device (HMD) may involve: for each of one or more messages that are selected from a plurality of messages from an account: (a) extracting one or more phrases from a respective selected message; (b) determining that a conversation includes the selected message and one or more other messages from the plurality of messages; (c) generating a first feature vector based on the conversation; and (d) generating one or more training-data sets that include one or more of the phrases and the first feature vector. The method also includes training a machine-learning application with at least a portion of the one or more training-data sets, and applying the trained machine-learning application to process an incoming message and to determine one or more reply messages corresponding to the incoming message. The method may display the reply message(s) on a graphic display of the HMD.

  • Publication number: 20170175990
Abstract: An LED apparatus is provided in which at least one LED is simply and reliably mounted. LEDs are connected mechanically, electrically, and thermally within a lighting assembly. An LED comprises an emission layer on a substrate such as a circuit board. The circuit board is both an LED support and a conductor for connection to LED terminals. A frame has a cutout receiving the printed circuit board. The frame is fastenable to a heat dissipating surface. The cutout also defines cantilevered beams cut out within the surface of the frame. The cantilevered beams surround the LED to distribute force across the LED. The circuit board includes copper vias providing power to terminals on the LED. The terminals may be soldered to the power contact without the need for additional wiring.

  • Patent number: 9111431
Abstract: An alarm system at a premises reduces the overall delay in signalling an alarm condition in the presence of an entry delay timer. The alarm system establishes, or commences the establishment of, a network connection prior to the expiry of the entry delay. This allows an alarm message to be quickly dispatched upon expiry of the entry delay timer, or if a tamper condition is sensed.

  • Publication number: 20140224350
Abstract: The present invention detects the presence of occupancy or activity in one or more locations of a building and remotely takes action to shut off the flow of water by keeping the main shutoff valve to the building closed when no activity or occupancy has been detected for a predetermined amount of time and opening this valve when activity has been sensed. Motion sensors are placed throughout the building in areas commonly traveled during occupancy/activity. The system is designed such that motion sensors have a means to communicate with a motorized water valve each time motion is sensed to control the opening and closing of the water valve. The means of communication between the one or more motion sensors and the motorized water valve may be a wireless signal such as a radio signal generator which transmits a radio signal to a receiver integrated with the motorized water valve.

  • Patent number: 8744399
Abstract: A control panel of an alarm system at a premises stores call-back numbers/addresses and provides these to a monitoring center, as required. In embodiments, the call-back numbers/address may be provided along with the signalling of an alarm condition. In other embodiments, call-back numbers/addresses may be retrieved from the panel at the request of an operator or installer, or periodically. Call-back numbers/address may be stored or updated at the panel by installers or occupants, or automatically.

  • Patent number: 8692444
Abstract: A lighting fixture utilizing LED light sources for illumination of commercial, outdoor and other large area applications incorporates efficient heat dissipation and improved convective air flow. An integrated heat transfer assembly is disclosed that is configured to enhance heat dissipation by providing an efficient thermal conductive pathway for radiation of heat to an external environment. The lighting fixture body is configured with a lens body and heat sink having a chimney tube with internally facing finned heat sink arrangement for providing enhanced convective air flow through the light fixture body. When the heat sink transfers heat from the LED light sources during operation so as to create heated air surrounding the heat sink, ambient air is drawn through the chimney and the heated air is exhausted through air gaps so as to create a conductive air current with the environment.

  • Patent number: 8525664
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for communicating heartbeat signals representative of the condition of a security system to a monitoring station. A controller is provided that transmits a heartbeat signal to a monitoring station within a given time period and awaits an acknowledgement signal from the monitoring station. If an acknowledgement signal is received within a time interval from the transmission of the heartbeat signal, then the time period is reset and another heartbeat signal is not sent until the next time period. If an acknowledgement signal is not received by the controller within a few seconds of transmitting the heartbeat signal, then another heartbeat signal is sent from the controller to the monitoring station. Heartbeat signals are only transmitted from the controller if an acknowledgement signal is not received from the monitoring station. In this manner, the amount of data sent over a communication link is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8396446
Abstract: An alarm system senses alarm conditions on a premises, reports the occurrence of an alarm condition to a remote monitoring facility and for selected alarm conditions establishes two way voice communications with a person at the monitored premises or elsewhere. Multiple modes of communication are available such as public switched telephone (audio or audio modulated data), GSM (cellular audio), GPRS (cellular packet data), GSM/SMS (cellular text), etc. The programmed processor selects the network and communication protocol to rely on data communications if only data reporting is required. When two way voice communications will be required, the processor can select a network (e.g., GSM) that can be used for both data and audio communications.
