  • Patent number: 6308530
Abstract: Ice-filled cold storage means for the repeated freezing and, accompanied by the cooling of air or a cooling fluid, melting of the ice, with an elastic sleeve (2) for an ice supply, which is kept by a substantially dimensionally stable jacket (3) under close heat transfer contact at the location of an air or fluid guide and which is set up for moving air to be cooled or dehumidified or a cooling fluid past the ice supply.

  • Patent number: 6190036
Abstract: Method for determining the ice concentration in a liquid ice mixture (binary ice fluid), with the steps: separating a partial flow of the fluid and introducing and heating the partial flow into a heat exchange (16) until complete melting takes place, accompanied by the measurement of the inlet temperature tA and outlet temperature tB, further heating of the fluid flow by an external heat source and return of the partial flow through the heat exchanger (16), accompanied by the measurement of the inlet temperature tC and outlet temperature tO of the return partial flow and calculating the ice concentration according to the equation Xice=(tC−tO−tB+tA)·(cpfluid/hice), in which cpfluid is the specific heat capacity of the binary ice fluid and hice is the enthalpy of fusion of the binary ice.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 29, 1999
Date of Patent: February 20, 2001
    Assignee: Integral Energietechnik GmbH

  • Patent number: 6129498
Abstract: A method for unloading open containers for uncompacted or loosely compacted tobacco bales, comprising the steps of engaging an open container full of tobacco, closing the container, first tipping the container, partially opening the container onto an underlying loading platform and consequently partially unloading the tobacco. The container is then lifted, consequently fully unloading the tobacco, and then a second tipping and release steps of the empty container follow in order to resume the cycle from the start.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 4, 1998
Date of Patent: October 10, 2000
    Assignee: Garbuio S.p.A.
Inventor: Hans Joachim Paul Alexander Ulbrich
  • Patent number: 5679403
Abstract: The invention relates to a freely flowable, soil conditioner consisting of a granular perlite with a coating on the externally accessible surface of the perlite grains of unfired clay. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the soil conditioner in which a clay slurry is sprayed onto the perlite grains.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 1, 1995
Date of Patent: October 21, 1997
    Assignee: Otavi Minen AG
    Inventors: Gerhard Eder, Hans-Joachim Paul

  • Patent number: 4988199
Abstract: The concentration of optically active substances is determined by measuring the polarization of light passed through the substance using a light source, a polarizer and a modulator operated at a predetermined modulation frequency f.sub.F, as well as a measuring cell, an analyzer and a detector. The output signal from the detector 16 is alternately integrated during each half period of the modulation frequency to form voltage values U.sub.I+ and U.sub.I-. These voltage values are stored and the quotient Q of these stored voltage values is formed. Subsequently, an adjustable constant voltage is subtracted from the quotient. The measuring arrangement can have a miniature design for implantation. No mechanically moving parts and only a single detector are used. The measurement is accomplished by a simple, miniature linear ray path having high resolution.

  • Patent number: 4620074
Abstract: A contact arrangement comprising two cup-type contacts having hollow-cylindrical contact carriers arranged coaxially with each other and having slots inclined in the same sense to the longitudinal axis of the contact arrangement. The slots act as a coil for generating a magnetic field for minimizing arc currents. The condition ##EQU1## is met in a range of the outside diameter D of the contact carriers of from 60 to 150 mm, a predetermined height H.sub.T of the contact carriers, a number s of the slots and an azimuth B of the slots. With this design, a contact arrangement with an axial magnetic field of at least 3.5 uT/A is obtained.

  • Patent number: 4194060
Abstract: An electric accumulator or storage cell whose positive and negative plates are composed of a multiplicity of thin lead plates or lead foils which are spaced apart from thin separators in a receptacle adapted to receive an electrolyte (dilute sulfuric acid), the receptacle having dimensions closely conforming to those of the stacked plates. The thin lead plates or foils which form both the positive and negative electrodes are formed at juxtaposed regions with exactly coextensive electrically nonconducting and electrolyte impermeable masks of a material adhering strongly to the electrodes.
