Abstract: Described are cis-3-hexenyl derivatives having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein R is one of the moieties: ##STR2## which are useful in foodstuffs, flavorings, fragrances, perfumed articles (e.g. anionic, cationic or nonionic detergents, dryer-added fabric softener articles and cosmetic powders) and smoking tobacco flavorings; processes for producing such cis-3-hexenyl derivatives and products produced according to such processes which include chemical compounds in addition to said cis-3-hexenyl derivatives.

Abstract: Described are methyl-substituted norbornane carboxaldehyde having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein the dashed line is a carbon-carbon single bond, or a carbon-carbon double bond, and R.sub.1 R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represent methyl or hydrogen with the proviso that (i) R.sub.1 is hydrogen when R.sub.3 is methyl and (ii) R.sub.1 is methyl when R.sub.3 is hydrogen.Also described are processes and compositions for augmenting or enhancing the flavor and/or aroma of consumable materials including foodstuffs, chewing gums, medicinal products, toothpastes, chewing tobaccos, perfumes, colognes and perfumed articles such as solid or liquid anionic, cationic, nonionic or zwitterionic detergents or fabric softeners or fabric softener articles using as the essential ingredient at least one of the methyl substituted norbornane carboxaldehydes of our invention.

Abstract: Described is a process for preparing several substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl acyl alkanoates defined according to the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 taken together complete a cycloalkyl moiety or methyl, dimethyl or trimethyl substituted cycloalkyl moiety containing five or six carbon atoms in the ring and wherein R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 lower alkyl and R.sub.4 is methyl or hydrogen by reacting a compound having the generic structure: ##STR2## in an aqueous silver-ion containing solution having a weakly acidic pH at elevated temperatures.

Abstract: Described is a process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of a dryer-added fabric softener article comprising the step of intimately admixing with the coating composition for the outer coating of said dryer-added fabric softener article an aroma augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one tricyclic ketone having the structure: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 lower alkyl.

The resulting products are useful for their organoleptic properties as foodstuff flavorants and flavor enhancers, perfume composition ingredients, perfumed article ingredients and tobacco flavorants and flavor enhancers.

Abstract: Described is the use for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of smoking tobaccos and smoking tobacco articles of a derivative of a 2-oxabicyclo [2.2.2]octane which is 1,3,5,5-tetramethyl-2-oxabicyclo [2.2.2]octane.

Abstract: Described are 2,4,6-Trimethylcyclohexanemethanol derivatives having the generic structure: ##STR1## wherein the dashed line represents a carbon-carbon single bond or a carbon-carbon double bond and R is hydrogen or acetyl. The 2,4,6-Trimethylcyclohexanemethanol and derivatives thereof are useful in perfumery and foodstuff, medicinal product and smoking tobacco flavors.

Abstract: Described are processes for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of a smoking tobacco comprising the step of intimately admixing with smoking tobacco an aroma or taste augmenting or enhancing quantity of at least one substance selected from the group consisting of:A. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, trans-2-hexenal, and cis-3-hexenol;B. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal;C. A composition of matter consisting essentially of cis-3-hexenal, cis-3-hexenyl-cis-3-hexenoate, cis-3-hexenol, cis-3-hexenyl formate and trans-2-hexenal; andD. Cis-3-hexenyl methyl ether.Also described are smoking tobacco compositions produced according to the above process.

Abstract: Described are derivatives of 2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octanes and precursors therefor, cyclohexenemethanols as well as lower alkyl esters of said cyclohexenemethanols. The oxabicyclooctanes are useful in perfumery and foodstuff, medicinal product and tobacco flavors. The cyclohexenemethanols are useful as precursors for the oxabicyclooctanes and are, themselves, useful for their organoleptic properties in perfumery and flavors as are the esters of said cyclohexenemethanols.
