Abstract: Hydraulic oils containing a biodegradable base oil comprising eithera) the product of the ethoxylation and/or propoxylation of glycerol with from about 0.5 to about 3 moles of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide and subsequent esterification with a saturated or unsaturated C.sub.6-24 fatty acid, or mixtures thereof; orb) the product of the insertion of from about 0.5 to about 3 moles of EO and/or PO into a natural oil or fat other than castor oil.

Abstract: A process is provided for the production of polyaddition and polycondensation products, in which addition products of, on average, 0.5 to 2 moles of ethylene and/or propylene oxide with glycerol are polymerized with polyfunctional isocyanates or polybasic carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid esters a) directly or b) via the intermediate stage of transesterification products with esters of C.sub.1-4 alcohols and C.sub.2-22 fatty acids not including the esters of ricinoleic acid. The addition products of glycerol and ethylene or propylene oxide have been found to be a suitable replacement for trimethylolpropane in such reactions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of plastics containing amide groups with elimination of CO.sub.2 by reaction of polyfunctional isocyanates, carboxylic acids and, optionally, alcohols in the presence of tertiary amines, more particularly heteroaromatic amines. The heteroaromatic amines preferably contain another heteroatom and/or substituents having +I and/or +M effects. The reaction preferably starts at room temperature. Fine-cell foams having an acid value of less than 40 and a density of at most 150 g/l can be produced in short reaction times at room temperature without any need for additional blowing agents.

Abstract: The invention relates to ionic polymers obtained by reaction of carboxyfunctional fat- and oil-based starting materials with salts of polyvalent ions. They may be used as sealants, coatings, adhesives and as additives for plastic formulations and for mortars, gypsums and cements. The starting mixture may be present both in a one-component formulation and in a two-component formulation.

Abstract: Partially dehydrated castor oils having hydroxyl numbers in a range between 90 and 150 mg of KOH/g are useful as lubricants.

Abstract: A device for use in measuring blood pressure comprises a cuff which is windable around the portion of a body and a clamp fastener for maintaining the cuff in the wound position during use. The fastener has a box shaped outer part and a box shaped inner part which is moveable therein perpendicular to the longitudinal access thereof and has slots in its end faces for receiving a pressure rod about which the cuff is looped. A sound pickup is disposed in the pressure chamber of the cuff and is connectable to a display instrument via an air tube.

Abstract: A sleeve working in connection with electronic sphygmomanometers is provided with two separate inflatable pressure chambers of different size, which may be connected selectively to a suitable pressure source. A switch-over device is provided in the line to the pressure source for inflating either the first or the second pressure chamber. The two pressure chambers are adapted to the average diameter of a child's arm and adult's arm respectively.

Abstract: An electronic sphygmo-manometer utilizes a sleeve, which is wound around the patient's arm for taking pulse pressure values. The sleeve is equipped with a sound transducer connected to the pressure gauge. The point of the pressure gauge is deflectable perpendicular to the rotation plane and the needle tip can be brought into contact with a record card beneath the needle by means of an electro magnet. If the electro magnet is activated by a power circuit, which is controlled by an electrical signal created from the Korotkoff noise, the needle tip is pressed against the record card and produces an imprint on the record card. By sweeping the pressure from a value above the systolic pressure to a value below the diastolic pressure, a card is obtained with imprints covering the pressure range from the systolic to the diastolic value. The instrument is easily to be operated and provides for a high accuracy combined with low susceptibility to noise.

Abstract: An apparatus for recording pneumatic pressures such as those encountered when measuring blood pressure with a sphygmomanometer. A sheet material which is to have information recorded thereon is carried by a suitable support. A frame carries a marking instrument for marking the information on the sheet material, and in addition this frame carries a pressure-responsive device capable of responding to a change in pneumatic pressure and connected with the marking instrument for moving the latter in accordance with the degree of pneumatic pressure.
