  • Patent number: 7496398
Abstract: The present invention provides for x-ray imaging and ultrasound imaging of a body region of interest in a spatially correlatable manner. The resultant x-ray and ultrasound images may be combinatively employed to provide three-dimensional information regarding a location of interest within the body, and is particularly apt for use in the analysis/biopsy of potential lesions and suspicious masses in a female breast. The invention provides for direct body contact by an ultrasound imaging head, as well as targeted ultrasound imaging of a selected portion of the region from which x-ray images are obtained. A user interface system facilitates various procedures including ultrasound guided needle biopsy procedures.

  • Publication number: 20050149103
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and device for preventing cerebral embolization during endovascular procedures in the carotid arteries. The invention comprises a guide catheter and balloon, which may selectively occlude the common carotid artery, and further comprises a wire and balloon, which may selectively occlude the internal carotid artery. Occlusion of the common carotid artery will induce retrograde flow at the site, redirecting emboli to the external carotid artery. Occlusion of the internal carotid artery reduces the risk of emboli migrating to the brain, and allows clearance of the site by antegrade blood flow from the common carotid artery. Occlusion of both the common and internal carotid arteries induces a quiescent state at the site during the procedure. Control of blood flow by selective inflation and deflation of either or both balloons, in concert with the procedures, will reduce the risk of emboli migrating to the brain.

  • Patent number: 6617986
Abstract: A Sequential Gray Code to Thermometer Code decoder circuit adapted for area efficient use at each pad of an integrated circuit chip for incrementally adjusting a digitally adjustable resistance for continuous or periodic adjustment of on-chip terminations. The sequential decoder for decoding a Gray code count to a T-bit Thermometer code count is constructed of a plurality (T) of cascaded decoder cells, each cell sensing the state of only one bit of the Gray code count. The decoder cells are cascaded to from decoding-latching stages each stage responsive to an individual one of single-bit changes between consecutive counts in the Gray code.
