  • Publication number: 20090303749
Abstract: An Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) pick-up apparatus includes a magnetically permeable core, a first coil, being wound about the core so as to be inductive coupled therewith such that a current induced in the first coil is most sensitive to a first directional component of magnetic flux and a second coil, being wound about the core so as to be inductively coupled therewith such that a current induced in the second coil is most sensitive to a second directional component of magnetic flux. The first directional component is substantially orthogonal to the second directional component.

  • Patent number: 7472192
Abstract: A communication system and method is disclosed for facilitating connection by a user to a selected one or more of multiple ISP's, thereby alleviating problems associated with providing a fixed link to a single ISP. Advantages may include ease of switching between ISP's and the system may enable a virtual ISP to be created having characteristics more suited to a user's need than the individual ISP's.

  • Publication number: 20080250146
Abstract: A method for version negotiation between two entities is provided. Described in the context of communication protocol negotiation, an initiating entity proposes an initial communication protocol version to a receiving entity. In response, the receiving entity accepts the protocol version if it is within the range of its supported versions or proposes an alternative protocol version selecting to be either the highest or lowest protocol version supported by the receiving entity. This allows the receiving entity to successfully limit the number of protocol versions it supports and to communicate this restriction in any protocol setting to the initiating entity. The initiating entity then accepts the proposed alternative protocol version. If version negotiation is successful, either the accepted initial version or the accepted alternative version of the communication protocol is used for the duration of the communication session between the initiating entity and the receiving entity.

  • Patent number: 7106809
Abstract: An RF receiver operates to receive broadcast RF signals that include at least one of an analog portion and a digital portion. The RF receiver performs processing of the analog portion and/or the digital portion to generate a digital path signal. The RF receiver performs further processing of the analog portion to generate a first audio signal. A digital modulation processing system may be electrically connected with the RF receiver. The digital modulation processing system may receive and process the digital path signal to generate a second audio signal. The RF receiver may selectively utilize at least one of the first audio signal and the second audio signal to generate an audio output.

  • Publication number: 20030163339
Abstract: A process of accessing live activities and events through Internet includes the steps of: capturing at least a live action event having at least one participant carrying at least a video camera supported on an eye level position of the participant for capturing the live action event from a point of view of the participant; uploading the live action event to a central control site through Internet; and broadcasting the live action event to a subscriber via the central control site through Internet. Therefore, each subscriber is able to view the live action event from the participant's point of view as the subscriber is virtually participating.

  • Publication number: 20030005269
Abstract: A processor configuration for processing multi-precision shift instructions is provided. The multi-precision shift instructions are executed following a previous shift instruction of the same increment, such as a logical or arithmetic left or right shift operation. The first shift instruction shifts a first memory word by the shift increment and stores this shifted value into memory. The second, and any subsequent, multi-precision shift instruction shifts the next memory word by the shift increment and concatenates the bits shifted out of the previously shifted memory word into bit positions of the memory word presently being shifted. This concatenated value is then stored back to memory and forms another part of the multi-precision shifted value.

  • Patent number: 6144307
Abstract: A device which relates to the monitoring of things such as cranes and hoists and seeks to improve on known so-called capacity limiters or overload devices usually associated with the hoist or chain rope. A monitoring device for use with a crane or hoist having a drive roller with a drive shaft and a gearbox directly or indirectly attached to the drive shaft. The monitoring device includes a means of resisting rotational movement of the gearbox located between the gearbox and an adjacent rigid structure, the means between the gearbox ad the adjacent rigid structure being such as to allow a limited degree of movement of the gearbox, and there being a means to react to the movement of the gearbox associated with the means of resisting rotational movement.
