  • Publication number: 20100196865
Abstract: A fluid delivery system for remotely controlling the flow of simulated bodily fluids to a patient simulation manikin. The fluid delivery system may include multiple reservoirs for holding the simulated bodily fluids and multiple valves for controlling the flow of the simulated bodily fluids from the reservoirs to the manikin. The fluid delivery system may also include a fluid delivery component, such as a compressor or pump, for causing the simulated bodily fluids to flow from the reservoirs to the manikin. The reservoirs, the fluid delivery component, the valves, and the manikin may be interconnected to one another via tubing. The fluid delivery system may be controlled remotely from the manikin so that a trainee is not able to anticipate when the simulated bodily fluids will be delivered to and/or discharged from the manikin. The simulated bodily fluids may be delivered to the patient simulation manikin simultaneously and/or successively.

  • Publication number: 20070132256
Abstract: The invention generally involves an apparatus and method for cleaning metal debris from a tool. The tool may have magnetic properties. The magnetic cleaner comprises a magnetic element suitably sized to interface with a surface of a tool associated with metal debris. The apparatus is preferably configured to be operated with one hand and may comprise a protective housing that surrounds a magnetic element. The housing has a magnetic interface constructed of magnetically transparent material with the remainder of the housing optionally constructed from material that forms a magnetic barrier. The magnetic element may be movably associated with the housing allowing the magnetic element to be associated/disassociated with the housing magnetic interface. The apparatus may further comprise a resilient element that defines a bias force that tends to keep the magnetic element disassociated from the housing magnetic interface.

  • Publication number: 20060035633
Abstract: A communication system, upon receiving an instruction to transfer deferrable data, determines whether an air interface is congested and, when the air interface is congested, defers a transfer of the deferrable data or transfers the deferrable, lower priority data as higher priority data. When, during a transfer of deferrable data, the system determines that the air interface is congested, the system may terminate the call and save a state of a partially completed deferred data transfer. Subsequent to the termination of the call, the system establishes another data connection over the air interface and transfers any remaining, not yet transferred deferrable data. In order to discourage subscribers from transferring higher priority data as lower priority data, the system may further restrict a transfer of lower priority data to designated time periods while allowing a transfer of higher priority data during the designated time periods and other time periods.

  • Patent number: 6588352
Abstract: In operation for wave avoidance the WAY presents only a small profile and a small part of its total structure to the most dynamically active part of all ocean waves, their surface and crests. This includes all storm and rogue waves. In this mode the bulk of the vessel is distributed through lower more quiescent water and spans differentiated deep wave effect. In this mode the WAY has low above surface reserve buoyancy-able-to-induce unwanted motion. In wave avoidance mode when not underway, the WAY is stabilized by low reserve buoyancy of its wave piercing causeways (12). Underway the WAY behaves as a small wing effect hydrodynamic flying body and does not rely upon wings or hydrofoils which receive undesirable acceleration forces and motion from deep wave effect. Flight path is controlled by orientation which is controlled by a large separation between center of buoyancy and a purposefully moveable center of mass.
