  • Publication number: 20240123196
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to guidewire devices having shapeable tips and effective torquability. A guidewire device includes a core having a proximal section and a tapered distal section. A tube structure is coupled to the core such that the tapered distal section of the core extends into and distally beyond the tube structure. The portion of the core extending distally beyond the tube forms a shapeable tip. One or more coils also extend distally beyond the tube. The tip is configured to reduce the tendency of resilient forces from the tube structure to disrupt a customized shape of the tip.

  • Publication number: 20240009424
Abstract: Disclosed is a catheter system including an outer member, an inner member that translates within a lumen of the outer member, and a stylette configured to fit within a lumen of the inner member. The inner member is translatable within the outer member to selectively extend beyond a distal end of the outer member, and the stylette has greater bending stiffness and/or columnar stiffness than the inner member to assist in navigating the inner member to targeted anatomy. This catheter system can get close to targeted anatomy to allow for better treatment. In particular, the catheter system is useful in adhesive embolization.

  • Publication number: 20230082226
Abstract: Disclosed are guidewire and catheter systems that can be used to facilitate desirable catheter axial response (e.g., pushability) over a guidewire for advancement through patient vasculature. Features of the guidewire and catheter systems enable the catheter to advance over the guidewire within the tortuous paths of a patient's vasculature in response to push forces that do not exceed 50 g.

  • Publication number: 20220378459
Abstract: An intravascular device, such as s guidewire device, includes a hollow proximal section and a hollow distal section joined to the proximal section and extending distally from the proximal section to form a continuous lumen extending from a proximal end of the device to a distal end of the device. An inner member extends from the proximal end to the distal end and is joined to the distal end. The inner member is translatable within the lumen in response to applied tension. At least the distal section includes a micro-fabricated cutting pattern that enables deflection of the distal end in response to the application of tension to the inner member.

  • Publication number: 20220296850
Abstract: Polymer catheters and guidewires for use in intravascular surgery, and more particularly polymer catheters and guidewires micro-machined with a micro-cutting machine to provide sufficient flexibility to travel through a patient's vasculature while retaining sufficient torquability to transmit torque from a proximal end to the distal end of the catheter or guidewire, and methods of producing the same.

  • Publication number: 20220280147
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to interventional devices such as catheters and guidewire devices having micro-fabricated features for providing flexibility while maintaining good torquability. An interventional device includes an elongated member having an arrangement of fenestrations which define a plurality of axially extending beams coupling a plurality of circumferentially extending rings. The fenestrations are arranged so that the resulting beams form a distributed, non-helical and non-linear pattern along the length of the elongated member. The pattern of fenestrations thereby minimizes or eliminates preferred bending axes.

  • Patent number: 11369351
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to interventional devices such as catheters and guidewire devices having micro-fabricated features for providing flexibility while maintaining good torquability. • Publication number: 20220118225
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices and methods for accessing a targeted vessel, such as a coronary artery, near the aortic root. A catheter device includes a proximal section, an intermediate section, and a distal section. The intermediate section includes a more proximal section (a proximal-intermediate section) and a more distal section (a distal-intermediate section). The proximal-intermediate section is microfabricated to enable preferred bending along a single plane. The distal-intermediate section is more rigid than the proximal-intermediate section and the distal section. In use, the proximal-intermediate section abuts against the aortic wall and bends to allow the distal-intermediate section to extend across the aortic root toward a targeted vessel on the opposite side of the aorta.

  • Publication number: 20210228845
Abstract: Disclosed is a guidewire having a core wire and an outer tube within which the distal section of the core is inserted. The outer diameter of the tube is greater than the outer diameter of the proximal section of the core wire. The guidewire also includes a proximal coil and a distal, radiopaque coil each disposed over the distal section of the core. A bushing coil is disposed over the proximal coil and distal coil. The proximal coil, distal coil, and bushing coil aid in filling the annular space between the core and the tube and thereby centering and aligning the core and tube.
