Patent number: 12726201Abstract: An optical circuit includes a resonator including a nonlinear optical material having intensity-dependent absorption, an input, and an output. The optical circuit includes an optical input path coupled to the input of the resonator and provides an optical logic input, an optical reference path coherently coupled to the resonator and configured to provide a first reference signal coupled to the optical input path and a second reference signal, and an optical output path coupled to the output of the resonator and configured to receive the second reference signal. The resonator receives a combined version of the optical logic input and the first reference signal, and provides an optical output signal based on the optical logic input, the first reference signal, and an intensity threshold of the nonlinear optical material. The optical output path provides an optical logic output corresponding to an output logic state based on the optical output signal and the second reference signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2024Date of Patent: September 1, 2026Assignees: University of Southern California, The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: John Bowers, Sujith Chandran, Yeshaiahu Fainman, Michael Haney, Ajey P. Patent number: 12663668Abstract: An acousto-optic device employing strong interband coupling in a multi-mode, spiral-shaped optomechanical waveguide is disclosed. The acousto-optic device includes multiple interdigitated transducers to produce phonons, which are directed to the optomechanical waveguide at an angle. By confining the produced phonons to the optomechanical waveguide, using phonon confining elements and/or a suspended structure, the interband coupling is increased. Through the use of spatial mode multiplexers at either end of the optomechanical waveguide to block or pass different spatial optical modes, one can create an acousto-optic modulator or an optical isolator.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2023Date of Patent: June 23, 2026Assignees: National Technology & Engineering Solutions of Sandia, LLC., The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Nils Thomas Otterstrom, Peter Rakich, Yishu Zhou, Freek Ruesink, Hoatian Cheng, Shai Gertler, Eric Kittlaus, John Bowers

Patent number: 12644981Abstract: A system and method for satellite imaging are provided. The system includes a first satellite, a trailing satellite, and a ground terminal. The first satellite acquires synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image data in a first predetermined signal frequency band at a first imaging location and transmits the SAR image data to a ground terminal. The ground terminal determines a second imaging location from the SAR image data and transmits the second imaging location to the trailing satellite. The trailing satellite acquires higher resolution image data in a second predetermined signal frequency band at the second imaging location and transmits the image data to the ground terminal. Systems and methods for satellite imaging are also provided in which a first satellite captures image data and processes the image data onboard to generate a processed product which is transmitted to a receiving terminal at a ground terminal or on a second satellite.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2021Date of Patent: June 2, 2026Assignee: MDA Systems Ltd.Inventors: John Bowers, Wayne Hoyle, Pat Malaviarachchi, Mark Senez, Ryan Oglow, Alan Thompson, Jelena Sirovljevic, Terence Lee

Patent number: 12555055Abstract: An orchestration system of or otherwise available to a web platform centralizes the execution of workflow components of a workflow associated with a job posting hosted by the web platform using various software services internal and/or external to the web platform. The workflow components and attributes thereof are determined based on the job posting. Domain-specific language (DSL) instructions for the various workflow components are generated. First DSL instructions are invoked by the orchestration system to cause an execution of a first workflow component of the workflow by a first software service. The orchestration system obtains an output of the first workflow component, such as values of relevant attributes, and, based on the output and in some cases information derived other than from the first workflow component, invokes next DSL instructions to cause an execution of a next workflow component of the workflow by another software service.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2022Date of Patent: February 17, 2026Assignee: Indeed, Inc.Inventors: John Bowers, Xiqian Han, Quanzheng Long, Jacob Lucas, Russel Mommaerts, Jeremy Spencer, Hemant Tanwar, David Thrift, Adam Ullrich, Christopher Valencia
