  • Patent number: 10048064
Abstract: An optical scanner includes a light source located within a housing. A reticle having an aperture is positioned within the housing to receive a first light beam emitted from the light source. The reticle is configured to transmit a second light beam through the aperture. A mirror is positioned within the housing to receive the second light beam transmitted from the reticle and reflect the second light beam through a first window in the housing onto a surface of interest of an object. A light receiver is configured to receive a third light beam from the surface of interest of the object through a second window in the housing, wherein the light receiver is configured to obtain one or more light position values to determine a parameter of the surface of interest of the object. Methods for generating three-dimensional images of an object utilizing the optical scanner are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10039691
Abstract: A method of providing airway clearance therapy to a patient includes receiving an expiratory airstream from the patient in a chamber, causing a back pressure to be created in the chamber (10) in response to receiving the expiratory airstream, causing a one-way valve, such as a magnetic duckbill valve (26), located downstream of the chamber to open only in response to the back pressure being at least equal to a certain predetermined level, causing a vibratory effect to be generated downstream of the one-way valve, for example using a vibratory ball check valve (32), when the one-way valve is open and in response to the expiratory air-stream passing therethrough, and delivering a percussive sensation to the patient through the chamber responsive to the vibratory effect.

The microneedle has a proximal end portion a distal end portion and a hub portion between the proximal end portion and the distal end portion. The proximal end portion is configured to be coupled to a medicament container, such as, for example a syringe. The portion of the lumen within the proximal end portion has a first diameter. The distal end portion is configured to pierce a target tissue. The portion of the lumen within the distal end portion has a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. The hub portion includes a surface configured to contact the target tissue when the distal end portion is disposed with the target tissue.

  • Publication number: 20180115527
Abstract: An automated system comprising a processor and a database are described. The processor executes communication software reading: at least one image corresponding to an identifier of a blood product from a donor; and at least one database storing at least one communication from a receiver of the blood product. The communication software executed by the processor determines an intermediary from the identifier and contacts the intermediary to obtain contact information of the donor.

  • Patent number: 9937075
Abstract: An apparatus includes a housing coupled to a medicament container, which is coupled to a needle. An injection assembly is disposed within the housing and includes an energy storage member and an actuation rod. A distal end portion of the actuation rod is disposed within the medicament container. The energy storage member can produce a force on a proximal end portion of the actuation rod sufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container. This can convey at least a portion of a substance from the medicament container via the needle when a distal tip of the needle is disposed within a first region of a target location. The force is insufficient to move the distal end portion of the actuation rod within the medicament container when the distal tip of the needle is disposed within a second region of the target location.

  • Publication number: 20180064148
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for the preparation of a gluten-containing grain having lowered levels of gluten. The method includes providing a prepared gluten-containing grain which may be optionally sterilized or pasteurized. The prepared gluten-containing grain is then inoculated with a prepared fungal component and incubated. In one embodiment the prepared fungal component myceliates the prepared gluten-containing grain while incubated and during this process hydrolyzes gluten in the prepared gluten-containing grain. The present invention also includes a gluten-containing grain having lowered levels of gluten which has been prepared by the methods of the invention.

  • Patent number: 9758285
Abstract: The bag in box packaging comprising an inner bag, an outer carton and an inner spout retaining member. The inner bag defines a cavity with a spout coupled thereto. The outer carton includes a front wall and a first sidewall positioned adjacent the front wall, both extending from a bottom wall to a top wall. The inner spout retaining member including a first panel spanning diagonally from the first sidewall to the front wall obliquely relative to each wall and spaced apart from a side edge joining the front wall to the first sidewall, to define a triangular cross-sectional configuration. The first panel includes a spout retaining slot extending thereinto. The spout extends into the spout receiving slot so as to capture the spout within the cross-sectional configuration and directed toward the side edge. The inner bag is positioned on the opposite side of the first panel.

  • Patent number: 9555933
Abstract: There is a closure 1, which is, in this case, shown as closing a mouth 2 of a bottle 3, wherein the bottle is made of glass and has an external outwardly extending integral collar 4 which extends fully around an outside of the neck of the bottle and is of a constant shape and size at any location around the periphery. The seal 5 is held under compression against an uppermost rim 6 of the bottle mouth 2 and surface 7, which is adapted to engage with compression force the seal 5. Upon extraction of portion 8 from within the mouth of the bottle, a “popping” sound is achieved by having the position of the seal somewhat below the mouth prior to extraction so that there will be upon extraction an evacuation of the headspace within the bottle.
