  • Patent number: 10404547
Abstract: Technologies for datacenter management include one or more computing racks each including a rack controller. The rack controller may receive system, performance, or health metrics for the components of the computing rack. The rack controller generates regression models to predict component lifespan and may predict logical machine lifespans based on the lifespan of the included hardware components. The rack controller may generate notifications or schedule maintenance sessions based on remaining component or logical machine lifespans. The rack controller may compose logical machines using components having similar remaining lifespans. In some embodiments the rack controller may validate a service level agreement prior to executing an application based on the probability of component failure. A management interface may generate an interactive visualization of the system state and optimize the datacenter schedule based on optimization rules derived from human input in response to the visualization.

  • Patent number: 10387822
Abstract: Various embodiments provide systems and methods for facilitating synchronized delivery of shipments/items scheduled to be delivered to multiple serviceable points located nearby one another. Various embodiments identify nearby serviceable points based on a determination of distance between serviceable points and/or time required to travel between serviceable points. Accordingly, shipping data for a first shipment is initially received, and a determination is made whether a second shipment is available for synchronized delivery with the first shipment. To make such a determination, a previous distance is identified between a first serviceable point and a second serviceable point, a time elapsed is identified between the first serviceable point and the second serviceable point, and the distance and the time elapsed are compared with respective thresholds.

  • Publication number: 20190175221
Abstract: A single-wire stylet may be constructed as an elongate single-wire, memory-metal alloy body with a generally cylindrical body profile, extending distally from a proximal end terminus, where embodiments include a polymeric distal tip member fixedly attached directly at a distal end of the single-wire body. At least one lengthwise portion of the single-wire body is at least partially in martensitic phase at operating temperatures at and below about 37° C. Where present, the polymeric distal tip member has a generally cylindrical body profile circumferentially bounded by an outer circumference substantially equal to or greater than that of the metal body. The polymeric distal tip member may be overmolded upon a distal-end tip length of an elongate single-wire, memory-metal alloy stylet body, where the distal end and/or discrete intermediate distal-portion length(s) that include martensitic-phase alloy and any polymeric member have greater flexibility than a proximal-most length of the alloy stylet body.

  • Publication number: 20190161854
Abstract: A method of modifying a surface of a medical device for implantation or disposition inside a patient is described. The medical device comprises a structure having at least one surface. The method includes the steps of: placing the medical device into a plasma chamber substantially free from contaminants and substantially sealing the plasma chamber from the atmosphere; removing at least an outermost layer of any oxide layer from the at least one surface of the structure by a plasma oxide-removal process, whilst maintaining the plasma chamber under seal from the atmosphere; and subsequently forming a new oxide layer at the least one surface of the structure by introducing at least one gas into the plasma chamber, whilst maintaining the plasma chamber under seal from the atmosphere. A medical device including a bulk material and an oxide layer disposed over at least one surface of the medical device. The oxide layer is substantially pure and free from contaminants.

  • Patent number: 10278688
Abstract: A wound protector and retractor device 1 comprises a sleeve 2, a distal member provided by a distal ring 3 of resilient material and a proximal member provided by a proximal ring 4. The sleeve 2 is led around the ring 3 and is free to move axially relative to the distal ring 3 somewhat in the manner of a pulley. The proximal ring 4 is fixed to the sleeve 2, in this case at the proximal inner end thereof. The sleeve 2 terminates in a handle or gripping portion which is reinforced by a gripping ring 15. The sleeve extends from the proximal ring 4 and the distal ring 3 is contained between inner and outer layers 2a, 2b of the sleeve 2. The resilient distal ring 3 is scrunched up and inserted through the incision 6. The sleeve 2 is then pulled upwardly. On pulling of the sleeve 2 upwardly the outer layer 2b is pulled up while the inner layer 2a is drawn around the proximal ring 3.
