  • Publication number: 20110035475
Abstract: An efficient software download to a configurable communication device is disclosed herein. The method of efficiently downloading software begins with a step of receiving a request to configure a communication device to run a communication application. The communication device being configured has a plurality of function blocks with a fixed portion of hardware and a flexible portion of hardware, wherein the same plurality of function blocks is capable of operating a plurality of communication applications. In a next step, the capability of the fixed portion and the flexible portion of hardware of the communication device is evaluated for a capability of implementing the communication application. Next, configuration information only for the flexible portion of hardware of the communication device is transmitted to the communication device to enable it to operate the communication application.

  • Patent number: 7073069
Abstract: A digital logic circuit comprises a programmable logic device and a programmable security circuit. The programmable security circuit stores a set of authorized configuration security keys. The programmable security circuit compares the authorized configuration security keys with an incoming configuration request, and selectively enables a new configuration for the programmable logic device in response to the configuration request. In another exemplary embodiment, a programmable security circuit also stores a set of authorized operation security keys. The programmable security circuit compares the authorized operation security keys with an incoming operation request from the programmable logic device, and selectively enables an operation within the programmable logic device in response to the operation request.

  • Patent number: 5271600
Abstract: A unitary diaphragm assembly for use in conventional flush valves. The diaphragm assembly has a flexible diaphragm which includes a seating portion and a mounting portion at the outer peripheral edge. A flow ring is positioned adjacent to the seating portion of the diaphragm. An elongated barrel member extends from the diaphragm in a longitudinal direction and includes a plurality of radial guides positioned circumferentially around the outer surface of the barrel member along a portion of the length of the barrel member. A second embodiment has a flexible diaphragm connected to a cylinder slide. The cylinder slide includes a longitudinal barrel member with a relief valve positioned in the interior of the lower portion of the barrel member.

  • Patent number: 4865923
Abstract: Synthetic layered structures, which may be semiconductor structures, are modified, both laterally and vertically, to provide novel electronic, optoelectronic, and optical properties. This is accomplished by selective intermixing of such layered structures through selective irradiation with laser beam or electron beam energy sources to effect interaction between neighboring regions, to a degree dependent on the energy density, while avoiding physical damage to the layered structures.

  • Patent number: 4731338
Abstract: A multilayer structure formed of two or more separate layers of different materials can be selectively intermixed so as to become compositionally transmuted, such that the distinction between the different original materials is lost, at least partially. This intermixing is accomplished by employing irradiation with a pulsed or rapidly scanned laser or electron beam. In addition, the intermixing can be accomplised by multiple pulses from the laser or electron beam so as to increase the degree of intermixing, thereby obtaining a more complete mixing.

  • Patent number: 4653845
Abstract: A fiber optic star coupler particularly for use in providing optical interconnects between circuit boards has a light mixer into which input and output fibers are inserted. The mixer has rectangular cross-section passage, an interior surface of which is highly reflecting. The mixer is long enough to promote a degree of internal reflection of light from any one of the input fibers sufficient that the corresponding light intensity reaching the output fibers is substantially uniform. In an optical interconnect arrangement, interconnection between circuit boards in a rack or cabinet is achieved by mounting light emitting and light receiving units on each board and leading fibers to which the units are fixed to the fiber optic star coupler so that light from the emitter units enters one end of the light mixer and fibers leading to the receiver units enter the opposed end of the light mixer.
