Patent number: 9878100Abstract: A medicated module (4) for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module (4) containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle (3). The medicated module (4) does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir (22) containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member (48) automatically activates the reservoir (22) when the needle guard (42) is retracted. The needle guard (42) prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after dose delivery.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: January 30, 2018Assignee: Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbHInventors: David Moore, Garen Kouyoumjian, Christopher John Jones, James Mark Watson, John David Cross, Malcolm Stanley Boyd, Alasdair George Young, Naceur Rekaya

Patent number: 9802003Abstract: A medication delivery device having a housing having a proximal and a distal end, a medication receptacle designed to be engaged with the distal end of the housing by engagement of a first engagement feature with a second engagement feature and a dosing mechanism. The dosing mechanism includes a piston rod which is rotatable and moveable in a distal direction for medication delivery and a drive device for moving the piston rod in the distal direction for medication delivery. The medication receptacle includes an actuation element that brings a guiding element in a guiding position. The guiding element guides the piston rod for medication delivery. The first engagement feature and the second engagement feature are moveable into engagement by a movement of the medication receptacle which ends in a rotational movement without axial movement of the medication receptacle with respect to the housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2013Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbHInventors: Michael Harms, Steffen Raab, Dominic George Webber, James Roberts Howarth, Tevor John Beckett, Geoffrey Philip Gray, John David Cross

Patent number: 9750898Abstract: A medicated module attachable to a drug delivery device comprising a connecting body configured for attachment to the drug delivery device. A first needle held within a first needle hub of the connecting body and a second needle fixed within a second needle hub of the connecting body. A recess within the connecting body defining a reservoir. The reservoir containing at least one dose of a medicament and configured for fluid communication with the first needle. The connecting body further comprises a lockout feature that prevents the medicated module from being reconnected to the drug delivery device after the medicated module has been connected to the drug delivery device a first time.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2011Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbHInventors: James Alexander Davies, John David Cross, Malcom Stanley Boyd, Steven Wimpenny, Daniel Thomas De Sausmarez Lintell, Simon Lewis Bilton, Naceur Rekaya

Patent number: 9579470Abstract: A dedicated needle assembly (300) that can be attached only to a dedicated drug delivery device (400) is disclosed. The dedicated needle assembly (300) comprises a connecting body (320) extending from a distal end to a proximal end. A dedicated mechanical coupling (310) is configured at the proximal end of the connecting body (320). The dedicated mechanical coupling (310) forms a releasable connection to a distal end of the dedicated drug delivery device (400). The dedicated needle assembly (300) may comprise a medicated module or, alternatively, a non-medicated module. In one arrangement, the dedicated mechanical coupling (310) is integral with the dedicated needle assembly (300).Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: February 28, 2017Assignee: Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbHInventors: John David Cross, Malcolm Stanley Boyd, Daniel Thomas De Sausmarez Lintell, Alasdair George Young

Patent number: 9504791Abstract: A medicated module for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The medicated module is user selectable so that it will deliver a priming dose of a primary medicament or both the primary and secondary medicaments. The module also contains a needle guard that locks after dose delivery. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection. A locking collar rotates during use as an inner protrusion follows three paths of a track located on the outer surface of a body housing. When the inner facing protrusion is in the third path, it encounters a hard stop and a rotational bias that locks the guard from further refraction and thus covers the sharp distal end of the needle.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2011Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: SANOFI-AVENTIS DEUTSCHLAND GMBHInventors: John David Cross, Malcolm Stanley Boyd, Alasdair George Young, Naceur Rekaya, James Alexander Davies, Steven Wimpenny, Daniel Thomas De Sausmarez Lintell, Simon Lewis Bilton
