Publication number: 20140039403Abstract: A module assembly for an injection system that may co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The module assembly is initially in a locked state until attached to a drug delivery device where interaction of the cartridge holder with a locking strut changes the module to a triggering state. The module assembly when configured as a medicated module does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member automatically activates the reservoir when the needle guard is retracted when the module is in the triggering state. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after dose delivery.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2012Publication date: February 6, 2014Applicant: SANOFI-AVENTIS DEUTSCHLAND GMBHInventors: David Richard Mercer, Garen Kouyoumjian, John David Cross, John David Cross

Publication number: 20140031760Abstract: A medicated module for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The medicated module is initially in a locked state until attached to a drug delivery where a locking plate is moved to a triggering state. The medicated module does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member automatically activates the reservoir when the needle guard is retracted when the module is in the triggering state. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after dose delivery.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2012Publication date: January 30, 2014Applicant: SANOFI-AVENTIS DEUTSCHLAND GmbHInventors: David Richard Mercer, Garen Kouyoumjian, Malcolm Stanley Boyd, Michael Bainton, John David Cross

Publication number: 20140025015Abstract: A medicated module for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The medicated module does not require the user to manually engage a reservoir containing the secondary medicament. Instead, a biasing member automatically activates the reservoir when the needle guard is retracted. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection, and locks after dose delivery. A biasing member is provided within the medicated module that may be in a first, trigger-locked position within a secondary packaging, and a second, triggerable position when removed from the secondary packaging to prevent accidental triggering of the device prior to removal from its packaging by the user at the point of use.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2012Publication date: January 23, 2014Applicant: SANOFI-AVENTIS DEUTSCHLAND GMBHInventors: John David Cross, Michael Bainton, Garen Kouyoumjian, David Richard Mercer, Malcolm Stanley Boyd

Patent number: 8579867Abstract: A medication delivery device comprising a housing, a medication receptacle, a piston rod which is moveable distally, and a drive device for rotating the piston rod in a first rotational direction. The piston rod comprises two threaded sections, a first threaded section for threaded engagement with a reset element and a second threaded section for threaded engagement with the drive device. In an operational state, the reset element is prevented from rotating and the piston rod prevented from moving proximally. In a resetting state, the reset element is allowed to rotate, such that the delivery device is resettable by rotating the piston rod and the reset element in a second rotational direction and moving the piston rod proximally.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2012Date of Patent: November 12, 2013Assignee: Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbHInventors: Michael Harms, Steffen Raab, Dominic George Webber, James Robert Howarth, Trevor John Beckett, Geoffrey Philip Gray, John David Cross

Publication number: 20130041321Abstract: A medicated module for an injection system to co-deliver at least two medicaments is disclosed where a primary delivery device containing a primary medicament accepts a medicated module containing a single dose of a secondary medicament and where both medicaments are delivered through a hollow needle. The medicated module is user selectable so that it will deliver a priming dose of a primary medicament or both the primary and secondary medicaments. The module also contains a needle guard that locks after dose delivery. The needle guard prevents accidental needle sticks before and after an injection. A locking collar rotates during use as an inner protrusion follows three paths of a track located on the outer surface of a body housing. When the inner facing protrusion is in the third path, it encounters a hard stop and a rotational bias that locks the guard from further refraction and thus covers the sharp distal end of the needle.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2011Publication date: February 14, 2013Applicant: SANOFI-AVENTIS DEUTSCHLAND GMBHInventors: John David Cross, Malcolm Stanley Boyd, Alasdair George Young, Naceur Rekaya, James Alexander Davies, Steven Wimpenny, Daniel Thomas De Sausmarez Lintell, Simon Lewis Bilton
