  • Publication number: 20170373613
Abstract: The invention relates to fluid drive systems used in fluid wells and brake systems for permanent magnet wellhead direct drives. The braking controller connects or disconnects a brake resistor from a back EMF. A variable frequency drive (VFD) drives the motor and communicates with the control circuitry of the brake controller. The control circuitry monitors the brake resistor and depending on the rotational speed and direction of the motor and operating state of the VFD, disconnects or connects the brake resistor. If the direction of the motor is in reverse and above a threshold speed, it connects the brake resistor. If the direction of the motor is in reverse and below the threshold speed, the control circuitry dissipates stored back EMF through the brake controller. The amount of stored back EMF corresponds to the time to empty a pump.

  • Publication number: 20170356252
Abstract: A shear coupler provides a breakable connection between adjacent members of a pump rod string. The coupler features an elongated shear stud, a hollow member in which the shear stud is axially received, a first set of rotational locking features externally defined on the shear member for engagement with a first set of matable rotational locking features internally defined on the hollow member; and a second set of rotational locking features externally defined on the shear member for engagement thereof with a second set of matable rotational locking features internally defined on the hollow member. The first and second sets of rotational locking features of the shear member are disposed on opposite sides of a weakened area thereof, and tensile and torsional loads on the coupler are substantially isolated from one another. Methods and equipment for applying torsional and tensile pre-loads to the coupler are also provided.

  • Patent number: 9737856
Abstract: A vacuum filter device comprising a filter body having two holders on opposite sides of a filter. Each holder contains a closed container in a fluid-tight, sealed relationship. The filter is retained by a compression sealing element and the sealing element is maintained in place by a compression element formed of a ring. The compression element is bonded to a portion of the body to hold it, the sealing element and filter in place under a compression seal. Optionally a port in the compression element is formed to align with the vent of the device. Further, an alignment feature on the compression element ensures the port is in alignment with the vent of the device. The device also includes a vacuum port communicating with the downstream side of the filter, and hence the filtrate container.

  • Publication number: 20160228870
Abstract: Fluid containment pressure vessel that eliminates the outer support housing present in certain conventional vessels, and provides an improved cap-to-body interface. In certain embodiments, the cap is threaded and configured to threadingly engage with the body of the pressure vessel, and has sufficient structural integrity to withstand the pressures in the device without the need for a support housing. In certain embodiments, an interlock mechanism is provided that prevents the cap from being opened (e.g., removed from the body) while the device is under pressure. In certain embodiments, a pressure relief valve is provided with a pre-loaded biasing mechanism to achieve the required pressure release rate. The vessel can be used for sample preparation, including purification or concentration of samples, particularly protein samples.

  • Publication number: 20160206800
Abstract: A remote monitoring mobile application may be installed and executed on a remote interface device. By streaming a log of the treatment data, attending HCPs may have continual access to the dialysis machine and patient data at the treatment center. In various embodiments, the data may be streamed to a server accessible by the remote interface device and/or directly to the remote interface device. The operator is able to log into the application on the remote interface device to access dialysis machine data and/or patient data during treatment. The HCP, through the application, is able to monitor the data at the treatment center and may set “soft” limits to warn the HCP of problems during the treatment before alarms or other treatment-disruptive actions occur at the dialysis machine. The remote monitoring mobile application may be software downloaded from a network and/or otherwise installed on the remote interface device.

  • Publication number: 20160092088
Abstract: Techniques and constructs can provide user communication with reduced bandwidth load. An indication of an item of user-linked content can be received. A confirmation view can be displayed and a confirmation received. An available one of a predetermined number of content slots can be determined. An association between the item of user-linked content and the available content slot can then be recorded in a computer storage medium. An example apparatus can include an insertion module responsive to a user-operable input device to insert a user-linked content item corresponding to a visual representation into one of the content slots. An example apparatus can include a summary module configured to present a summary visual representation of a plurality of items of user-linked content via the display. At least one of the items can include a gameplay video or an in-game collateral item.

  • Patent number: 9295947
Abstract: Filtration device suited for concentration of liquid samples, particularly biomolecules, and a method of concentrating, desalting, purifying and/or fractionating liquid samples. In certain embodiments the device includes a housing having a sample reservoir, and two substantially vertically oriented and spaced apart membranes disposed in the housing. An underdrain is associated with each membrane such that fluid passing through each membrane flows through a respective underdrain into a filtrate collection chamber. The fluid that does not pass through the membrane is collected in the retentate collection chamber, and can be recovered such as by a reverse spinning step, achieving recoveries greater than about 90%. The substantially vertical orientation of the membranes increases the available membrane area by at least 2.7 times the area available in a conventional filter device.

  • Patent number: 9178975
Abstract: A system and a method for reducing the power consumption of a wireless terminal and increasing capacity of a wireless communication system, without sacrificing the functions of the terminal. A base station includes a memory for storing the characteristics of the wireless terminal, the types of voice traffic that are supported by the terminal, and a program for executing an algorithm for exchanging control messages with the terminal via a wireless network. The algorithm is modified based on the particular characteristics of the wireless terminal, and sets the frequency of message exchange to not to exceed a predetermined frequency. In addition, the algorithm limits a time that information is displayed on the wireless terminal to a predetermined duration of time.
