  • Publication number: 20030138331
Abstract: A metering pump includes an actuating mechanism, and a plurality of piston cylinders coupled to the actuating mechanism. A first of the cylinders has a working volume that differs from a second of the cylinders. The actuating member is centrally located and the cylinders are arranged radially about the actuating mechanism. The working volume of the cylinders can be varied by adjusting the spacing of the cylinders from the actuating mechanism, thus varying the stroke of pistons housed within the cylinders, and/or by providing the cylinders with different inner diameters. A method of metering fluids includes independently adjusting stroke of a plurality of pistons to adjust the volume of metered fluid, and selecting different cylinder diameters to adjust the volume of metered fluid.

  • Patent number: 6520404
Abstract: The top of a carton, with opposite main panels and opposite side panels, has an inner and outer major flap hinged to opposite main panels. At each side panel, an ear has a lower portion hinged to the side panel and two upper ear-halves, one hinged to each of the major flaps. To seal the top, adhesive is applied to an outer face of the inner major flap and to the ear-halves extending from either end of one of the major flaps, usually the inner major flap. Then the inner major flap is folded down and the ear-halves extending therefrom are folded down and out. The outer major flap with extending ear-halves is folded on top in overlapping relation so that the adhesive bonds. In one aspect, each ear has a notch between the ear-halves to facilitate overlapping of the ear-halves. With the carton blank coated with an impermeable coating, the resulting carton is air tight.

  • Publication number: 20020179838
Abstract: A signal processing technique applied to the readout of two-dimensional detector arrays provides a dynamic correction mechanism for the varying offsets of the different elements of the array. The outputs of the elements are supplied to an offset correction circuit operative to compensate for the differences in the d.c. or low frequency outputs from a predetermined voltage wherein a fraction of the difference is subtracted at each successive cycle to gradually reduce the difference.

  • Publication number: 20020179700
Abstract: The top of a carton, with opposite main panels and opposite side panels, has an inner and outer major flap hinged to opposite main panels. The outer major flap has a fold line extending along its length in parallel to a hinge line joining the outer major flap and a main panel. At each side panel, an ear has an ear portion hinged to the side panel and an ear portion hinged to the outer major flap. With this arrangement, the carton may be re-closed by pressing the ears down against the outer major flap so that the outer major flap folds about fold line into a concave V-shape.

  • Patent number: 6375126
Abstract: A leading edge assembly for an airfoil. The assembly includes a Variable Camber Kreuger (VCK) panel which is hingedly attached at a forward end to a bullnose. Forward and aft suspension links serve to suspend the leading edge assembly within a recessed area in a lower surface of an airfoil in a cruise position. A linkage assembly operably associated with the forward and aft suspension links causes the VCK panel to be rotated from its cruise position into a take-off or a landing position in a manner which prevents scooping of air into the recessed area of the airfoil during this extending movement. A forwardmost edge of the panel overlaps a portion of the bullnose, to thus eliminate the need for a seal at this interface when the assembly is in the landing or the take-off positions. When in the take-off position, a trailing edge of the VCK panel overlaps an upper, forward edge of the airfoil to eliminate the need for a seal at this interface.

  • Patent number: 6371766
Abstract: A dimensionally adjustable vehicle component and/or a simulated entire vehicle includes body panels and vehicle components arranged in a simulated vehicle position and movably mounted on internal support structure for dimensional adjustment in fore/aft, up/down and lateral directions to form a variety of different spatial relationships between the vehicle components. A drive mechanism, typically including a motor and a rotatable drive shaft, is coupled to each dimensionally adjustable vehicle component support structure for adjusting the dimensional position of a selected component via control signals from a central controller. An encoder is coupled to each rotatable shaft output and generates actual travel position information for the controller to determine the actual position of the selected, dimensionally adjusted component.
