  • Patent number: 10783777
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for increasing the geospatial resolution of traffic information by dividing known location intervals into a fixed number of sub-segments not tied to any one map providers format, efficient coding of the traffic information, and distribution of the traffic information to end-user consuming devices over one or more of a satellite based broadcast transport medium and a data communications network. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention detail a nationwide traffic service which can be encoded and distributed through a single broadcast service, such as, for example, an SDARS service, or a broadcast over a data network. Exemplary embodiments include aggregating the traffic data from segments of multiple location intervals, into predefined and predetermined flow vectors, and sending the flow vectors within a data stream to users.

  • Publication number: 20200191841
Abstract: A system and method for detecting a high impedance fault in an electrical line strung along and between utility poles, where the line is part of an electrical power distribution network. A current sensor is provided on each line segment between the utility poles, where each current sensor harvests power therefrom and continuously monitors the current flow on the line segment. An observer/repeater device is provided on a number of the poles and each is in communication with certain select ones of the current sensors to receive the current measurements therefrom. One of the observer/repeater devices compares the current readings transmitted to it from the subordinate current sensors, and if a violation of Kirchhoff's current law exists, an indication of a high impedance fault occurs, where the observer/repeater device relays the current irregularity to an upstream recloser to take appropriate action.

  • Patent number: 10516957
Abstract: Acoustic transducer systems are described herein and in particular, acoustic transducer systems involving high displacement are described. An example acoustic transducer system includes an acoustic driver, a diaphragm position sensing module for generating a position signal corresponding to a displacement of a diaphragm of the acoustic driver, and a controller operable to: receive an input audio signal; generate a control signal based at least on the input audio signal and the position signal; and transmit the control signal to a voice coil operably coupled to the diaphragm so that the voice coil moves within an air gap within the acoustic driver at least partially in response to the control signal. A height of the voice coil can correspond substantially to a gap height in some embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20170287328
Abstract: A method is provided for encoding traffic incident and flow data using target map locations, such as OpenStreetMap (OSM) locations directly, rather than going through a conversion stage. In exemplary embodiments, the method can include selecting a set of fixed, identifiable locations along a roadbed, matching these to a target map, generating flow vectors in the target map's referencing model, and deliver only target map location data to the external application. Non-point location data such as incidents can also be represented using the same scheme, using an offset along a previously defined path for the start and end points.
